Higher special attack (110 vs 85), slightly better speed (65 vs 60) and no ice typing with its added weaknesses to rock and fighting.

For starters, it's more compatible. Gameplay wise, you are trading slightly less damage with ice moves for massively increased damage with all other special moves. Ice typing is just bad. The only reason, Lapras vs Vaporeon would ever be a consideration in normal pokemon is the way wider move pool on Lapras... in randomizer, there are no such concerns and Vaporeon is basically a strictly better version of Lapras.
