I just purchased the N4 and I love it. It's my first ever dash cam. Although I have no prior experience, I am a bit of a techie so I have a decent eye for quality electronics and the N4 is very well made and is absolutely worth the money, in my opinion. I don't know why I waited so long to finally purchase a dash cam, but now that I have one I believe it's an essential item everyone should have in your vehicle. Excellent comparison review!

@Cameron McCollough You must consider getting a OBD 2 port power supply line. They are sold by Vantrue as well. This is because when the police pull you over they generally tell you to turn off the engine. In that case your camera is of no use if the engine is turned off unless you have the continuous power supply with OBD port (or directly with the car hardwired) even if the engine is turned off. I have a question I was hoping you might answer. I’m thinking of selling my N2 Pro and getting the N4 as it has a rear camera and a capacitor instead of a battery. I currently use my N2 Pro in front camera mode only (no cabin) and use the setting 1920 x 1080 60fps. I noticed the N4 records at 1440 x 1080 30fps when using only front and rear camera. Do you know if the video on the N4 will be better even though the resolution is a bit lower than the N2 Pro and it only records at 30 fps?

I like the colour rendition of N2 Pro more than N4 it’s very nice to share with friends or Facebook or Instagram, but I agree the details captured by N4 are good.

Hello. Thank you very much for the video. Is there any possibility that you can post a raw video file? I want to check if the video itself stores the GPS data encrypted in the video or in a separated file in the SD card. I can check it with only one video file.

what does it mean when it is labeled raised exposure on N4? option on device or is this something you did to video afterwards?

Question: how does the rear camera behave when you have dark tinted windows (standard in my car to keep prying eyes out and to block the sunlight)? Does it still show enough details, is it bright enough, etc? Is there an option like a filter or something on the market that tackles this possible issue? I'm asking this because of every review I've seen - of basically every dashcam - none of them test their rear cameras with tinted windows. I mean, many new cars these days come with tinted windows, so I'd like to know how dashcam companies tackle this. Cheers and thank you for this superb review.

Do you have a rear cam connected to N2? Can the N2 be connected to a rear cam?

How is the parking mode comparison? Does the N4 cut out a lot or all of the night/low light footage when parked? Are there any huge gaps in the time lapse between parking mode video segments? Does the N4 take a snapshot of the movement in front of the camera and use that as the thumbnail? If it's anything like the X4 in those regards then it's not worth it for me.

Have Vantrue N2 and it is a hit and miss looking for something better. Big brother is watching you with the 3cam set up ..Lol

Hello there, i ordered after seen this review and already installed this dascam today in my wife's car ( Mazda 3 hatchback 2021) she had a Viofo A119V3 before. Now the sad thing is we can't get the same sharp videos as you did here, even on only the front camera at "4K" wich is in my opinion upscaled inside the camera.. the 1440 at 30 fps is slightly better with 2 camera's switched on? and yes we use the 256 GB sd from VanTrue itself. Perhaps a 60FPS mode would be nicer. Any suggestions are welcome Thanks already, John.

I don’t have a computer/laptop & im not about to buy one so how would I get the videos from the sd card to my phone or if I need to send it to someone... since the n4 doesn’t have wifi? Also I heard the N4 doesn’t have gps. I don’t know anything about tech so what benifits does gps add to the dash cams? Is it just pinpointing the location the video was recorded? If I decide to go with the n2 instead is there anyway to add a 3rd camera? I’m leaning more towards the n2 simply because of the wifi. This is ridiculous why wouldn’t vantrue the n4 should have wifi. update the firmware to see if that solves it

Just took the time today to format a Vantrue N2 pro dash cam. After reading a number of reviews where people said the Vantrue sd cards would not format, I went to Walmart and purchased a Sandisk 128 GB card for 25 dollars. Whether or not this card works is impossible to tell, since I cant get the camera to validate a time stamp. Leaving the camera on and plugged in with a USB cord and AC adapter, the camera shuts off after about 3 minutes, i.e. I cant tell if it's recording, or if it is formated, etc. Way way too complicated compared to the Car And Driver dash cam I had, thought that camera had a limited life span of about 2 years. I do not recommend this camera at all, especially if you're not technically savy.

I have a rear-view mount on the N2 Pro, and I am hoping if I purchase the N4 later on, that it would still clip in the same? This is unusual my inside rear camera lost it's color. I never dropped it, the video now only shows in black and white. My front side view is fine.

since its a dash cam and not used for the same purpose as a regular video camera the n2 has the overall better low light, since it has the least shadows. you can actually see more on the n2 like building details and peoples clothing. you can barely tell that person on the side walk on the right has a red shirt, on the n4 at 11:09 . the n4 has awesome night quality for a small camera sure, but not for documenting purposes which is what a dash cams main purpose is, the low light brightness is better on the n2, and n4 for has way better day quality obviously

I have a question about the interior night vision on the N2 PRO. My cam is much to dark than I want it can u help me with any adjustments i can do to make it more visual?

You can adjust the exposure in the settings. But first I recomend you update your firmware.

One of the underneath buttons (don't remember which exactly but press around to find out) turns on or off the interior night vision. Watch how the screen colour of the night Cam changes when you press it to get to your desired night vision - I have N2 PRO

When you park the car does the camera turn off ? And when it senses motion it turns on ? Then turns back off automatically?

Kinda think the Thinkware F 200 pro might be a better option than the Vantrue.But the USB-C is way cool on Vantrue What memory card did you use they are saying not to buy Sandisk or Trancend cards cause unit ti freeze up.

Does it also synch to the cloud I’m not sure if you said that in this video

No this does not have app feature or cloud. The cpu has to process 3 cameras so no room for perks

Compare it to the Thinkware U1000 Comes with 3 cams and and extra sensor that detects people moving around your car it will record

Still not WiFi ?

Was making a decision on whether I wanted to buy it from Amazon or Walmart and then I read the "185 answered questions" section and am I glad I did or what? I just found out that it doesn't have blue tooth nor Wi-Fi. Bummer, bummer, bummer. I was really wanting the Viofo ($249.99), but it's on backorder until August 11 or 12th. Now if that doesn't tell you how good this Dash Cam, nothing will. I have 4 more weeks to wait.

The N4 is $260 on Amazon right now, but N2 is $160, the difference between them two is not a huge deal. If money is not an issue, go with N4. However, N2 will get in the job done amazingly

Blackvue is the standard in this market, some good ones out there but Blackvue is the champ. I've had 2, and a VAVA, now have a vantrue. New truck is getting Blackvue also the most maintenance free of the onesnive had.

Why would the mic sound way better on the cheaper one

Yeah it's possible but you would need a way to charge that battery. I have had no issues with battery drain.

I could not tell the difference at all and was really confused on why you were saying the n4 resolution was much better... then I realized I had the video quality set to 480... now I have it in high resolution and can clearly spot the difference... I have been staying away from dash cams and house cams due to the low quality and I just now realized I've been watching all the videos in the lowest quality 😅

If you can recommend a dash cam or house camera that is simple to use and set up, please tell me what it is. I just tried to format (on June 7, 2023) a Vantrue N2 pro I received for Christmas. It is very difficult to even set up, can't tell if it's set up at all, can't set the time stamp, no confirmation or indication of the time being set, camera shuts off after 3 minutes while being plugged in on my living room table, so don't know if it records or if I could play back a recording.

Yes but it would look a bit darker. Same theory applies when you look out it's easier than looking in.

No it doesn't have wifi capabilities. It has to use its processor for cam quality.

In this video the n4 looks pretty good. None of that weird off color like in N2

Not with these. I don't think they can fit wifi having that quality and size

You need to point the cameras down more as you showing to much skyline and it'll also cut down the glare.

The GPS module is additional for $20

VanTrue is a subsidiary of Shenzhen Yidian Zhuoyue Technology Co.,Ltd which is owned and operated by the Chinese Communist Party. Garmin is headquartered in Olathe, Kansas, and last time I checked the Chinese don’t own Kansas.

N4 have front, rear and inside features meanwhile N2 have front and inside. That’s a done deal right there guys.

The gamma was set to vastly different settings.

So second video about the N4 that I've watched: the micro is crap. Also, N2 Pro is obviously working at a higher ISO in night-time mode (I don't know if ISO levels can be adjusted in these dashcams).
