Dashcams are definitely a must have. Video doesn't lie. My wife got hit a few months ago and of course the other party started telling all kinds of lies when the cops showed up. She let them tell their story then pointed to the dashcam and suddenly they had nothing else to say. 😆

A GREAT point. I also like dash cams that let you download the video instantly to your phone (like this one) because I've heard stories of cops "taking the SD card as evidence." NEVER let the take your footage. By downloading it you can give them a copy instead.

@@cheule Very good point. No batteries, quality sd card and phone app connectivity are key when getting a dashcam. The ones with batteries never last more than one summer in Louisiana.

Hey man I hope you’re doing well! I’m looking for a pocket-able torch that will really throw a good light across my field but also can dim enough to run ~30min. A charge dock would be sweet too. Any easy answers?

I’d say Baton 3 Pro (non-max). It’s 18650, good pocket size, very bright, and comes with magnetic charging cable that works standing up. Here is a review. It makes the tree line at the end of my street easily (150m): kzread.info/dash/bejne/eqCaqI-ulLKvdpc.html

Question, when you say the last dashcam kit you had, are you referring to the viofo or something else? gotta be honest but the extra features for installation are very appealing

Yes, my last dash cam hardwire kit was a Viofo. I had to remove it because it was micro USB (instead of USB-C), and the VanTrue hardwire kit has two low voltage cutoffs to prevent battery drain in parking mode. 12v and 11.6v.

Hey buddy... I would like your opinion if you have used both the catapult pro and acebeam K70. Is the k70 going to reach out NOTICEABLY FARTHER or would the catapult pro look similar and the smaller size worth the less range... need a decent throw for 300 400 meters thanks!

Those two aren’t identical, but they are very similar. Catapult pro is 1km throw and K70 is 1.3km throw, but both are around 2700lm. So what that means is that one is higher intensity and one has a slightly wider beam. To be honest, I’d go the wider beam, because too much of a pencil beam really limits use up close.

I replaced my Viofo A119 with the VanTrue E2. The Viofo is a great brand, and I have no issues with them at all. But the E2 is a much more advanced setup than what I had. I can’t speak to the A229 directly as I haven’t used it.

I clicked on the Amazon link but says it's the item unavailable where the price normally is. Is this the same for you guys over there or another Australian thing that commonly happens when I clicked Amazon affiliate links. Thanks

Thanks mate I found it directly on the AU Amazon site. Can the remote be used outside of the vehicle. For example your parked out front and hear something and want to start recording from inside the house is this possible ? I'm weighing up between the E2 and N4 but I don't think the N4 is app compatible which looks really useful from your review

Have you ever had the opportunity to try Viofo A129? Definitely gonna be my first dash cam purchase. edit: saw that you have viofo in the video

The cams I replaced were the venerable A118 and A119 from Viofo.

Prime overnight? I have never seen that as an option where I live.

I got this back im November in new york. It was in my mind the best camera I had purchased. 1944 at the front 1944 resolution at the back, dat and night parking mode. Just wish it supports 1gb sd card. That was during the winter Now during the summer, I noticed my camera from November is deformed and popping open by the screen. Never been dropped or serviced. I look at the website and notice the latest update: auto shutoff to prevent system deformity. Any new E2 you purchase now will come with that firmware update and you will have no recordings once the camera trips that temp sensor and shuts itself off. In essence, this eliminates the parking mode as a function and needs to be addressed or owners offered a refund. For me, the camera is insurance...and to have it fail when I need it most, by design, is unacceptable.

How clear are the license plates?

As clear as any dash cam I’ve seen…, which is to say not very. I state it in my video (you must have skipped past) that it’s not a function of the sensor that plates are unreadable, but the wide angle lens. So a good tip is to say the license plate aloud when something occurs, and the audio track will grab it.

Sorry for the slow reply, seems I missed this comment. Any “endurance” SD made for security cameras is what you want. Don’t just get any kind, because the constant writing that occurs with dashcams wears out typical SDs. So the brand isn’t a big deal. Whether matters is that it’s endurance designed.
