Nice explanation !!! Ice age ... fascinating subject. ... Glaciers as well. We have "*drop stones" in Adelaide exhibited ... embeded in a mud of a glacial lake ... ... All coming from Antarctica direction ...( victor Harbour...)... during Gondvana glaciers 280.000.000 y.a. .and droped from floating icebergs. ...as well as few erratics droped onto todays bech line in Halley cove beach. Article: * " Boulder lags in Rosetta Bay at Victor Harbor, South Australia" "What’s the significance of the large granite erratics scattered through the Inman Valley in South Australia?"

Love these videos, thanks so much for your work! Do you find other erratics located at the exact same sea level assuming the flood waters were at that level for a while and the ice would have all floated on top of the water?

Please forgive my ignorance, but if the flood basalts are the "bedrock", what did they flow over and cover? (and why aren't those considered the "bedrock"?). Sorry for my confusion.

Well, if you think about it, all bedrock has something underneath it. Now the lava is just the top dominant layer of bedrock.

At Richland the river elevation is 336’. How can the river be higher further downstream where you were at?

PS) I have some rocks in my front yard I've been trying to identify for a while now and am no closer than before I started. One broke open and the inside is completely different from the outside but not like a geode. The rocks aren't rounded like geodes. The inside doesn't look like any geode innards Ive ever seen. *Looks* almost like the lumber at the hardware store except the light color is slightly more yellowish and the "growth lines" are a bit more orangish. They alternate like tree rings but I don't think its wood nor petrified wood...though thatd be my closest description so far...wood on its way to being petrified or something. It appears to have a grainy texture so Id guess a sandstone maybe? The rock as a whole is heavy as I'd expect but the piece that broke off from just the inner portion feels much too light for its size, too heavy to be wood but not heavy enough to be petrified wood. Any direction would be much appreciated!

Nick great your stuff of Washington State. These igneous erratics are strongly felsic themselves with breccia-like inclusions no doubt. Plagioclase feldspars are zenoliths in part having crystalized at higher temperatures, before anyother mafic crystals develop ?

+David Laing Thanks David. The erratics are pretty typical granites with minimal inclusions.
