Vans Parker Szumowski Verse Snowboard Boot Review 2024 | What's Good

Спорт

“I'm a fan of the nice dark colours and the clean look. It's lightweight for an aggressive boot and not chunky feeling or overly heavy, which sometimes you get when a boot is that stiff. Overall it looks really good. Nice aggressive sole, double BOA, and clean gator to keep the snow out. When I first tried the boot on, I slid my foot in, and it felt really good. There's a nice insole in there, and even though the boot's pretty stiff on Vans' scale, it's still really comfortable to wear. It has a nice aggressive tread if you're hiking around. You're not slipping in the parking lot or slipping when you're hiking an icy line. Another thing I like about these boots is they have these stiffeners which you can take out of the boot, then slide back in. It helps stiffen up the boot. So if you ride with the stiffeners out, maybe at the start of your season and then halfway through the season or next season, tossing these back in will freshen up the boot a bit.
The Vans Parker Szumowski Verse snowboard boot is great for somebody who's getting a lot of day's riding. It's a little on the stiffer side. So the boot will break in nicely and still give you a long life. So if you want a boot that gives you a lot of feedback and allows you to really put pressure on your edges, this would be that boot.”-Jon Frye

Problem with this boot, is vans didn't add zipper top stops like they did in previous models of the verse. Left unfixed, this will cause the zipper pull to come off as has been noted on multiple reviews on vans website. I own this set and a previous set, there are zipper top stops on the older model and I have never had any issues with the older model. Trying to get some top stops to fix the new ones otherwise they seem like a good boot, perhaps a tad bulkier in the toe than the older model I've been using.

I bought the Blake Paul 10 days ago (27nov 2023)... Yesterday I tested them for the first time at the hill and the fabric that covers the lower BOA started to break where the bindings apply the pressure... Literally after 4 runs. That fabric is very very fragile and it has so much tension on it so it peels easily. I could finish my day because my 600$ boots were getting worse and worse. Some people could that the problem comes from the bindings but there is nothing wrong with them... No sharp edges at all... Just the usual pressure of the bindings. Sadly, Vans used such a cheap fabric for these boots. Especially when they are designed for backcountry which in my opinion should be more durable. Even though I bought 10 days ago and I used them 3 hours.... my local shop in Canada told me that I have to go through the "Warranty Claim process" and wait until Vans finds a solution for me. I am scared about using these boots, If the boot is peeling after three runs, what is going to happen after a few months? Will be completely destroyed. On the other hand, It is worth mentioning that all that area (botton Boa) has tooo much tension, you could see the interior structure boots in that fragile fabric Furthemore, that tension does not help the zip! It get stuck all the time. Even after zip it up you could see how much tension is around. It seems like the zip will explode. I have to say that these are the most comfortable boots I have ever tried! They fit like a glove! Love them! but in my opinion Vans should Re design this model to avoid these can of issues.

@@MochilerosRastreros What ankle straps are you using? Fabric/ padded or the harder rubber/ plastic injection moulded ones? Is that what is causing the fabric to deteriorate? I will say it's somewhat normal for some wear to happen to a boot in the binding baseplate as for a tight fit in a boot/ binding usually the bindings will rub at certain parts of the boot. On my previous verse, it was around the ultracush foam and some of the sides of the boot. This didn't lead to failure, the rubbing stopped once the material was worn away enough for fit. In fact this was my longest boot i've ever ridden. ~3 seasons of ~70+ on the hill days/ evenings of riding park. I do agree that the zipper fabric is very tight out of the box. I'm hoping it will stretch. I was also able to salvage a brass zipper stop I had from a hoodie zipper and added that to the boot. Easy but frustrating fix if you can't source the individual part.

@@Nick-zy9tx I am using the regular strap in Union Force. I have checked sharp edges on the strap or something similar but nothing at all. The edges of the interior boot (instep area) put so much pressure out, especially on those points where BOA cable goes out. Not sure if make sense what I am saying. Consequently, the lightest pressure (in this case with the bindings strap) on these points will break the fabric. I do not understand why they used such a thing fabric especially when the ankle area suffers so much friction. As I said this happened after using the boot for literally 3 hours. If this is happening after only 3 hours, I could destroy it by the end of the month! LOL I have been riding for more than 20 years, in this is the first time that something like this happened to me. Btw, If I get refund I will not get these... I am looking for something similar, my priority is confor, I tried in my local shop a Nitro (I can remenber the model) but the liner was supersoft....Any recomendation?

@@MochilerosRastreros comparing the two boots this years and previous years, they have changed that fabric for the powder skirt. Reason I asked about the ankle strap, is a lot of binding companies moved away from fabric padded ankle strap to the more plastic ankle strap like your force (assuming to reduce weight and cost) but might be creating more rubbing than anticipated. My old ones, do have signs of rubbing and 2 or so holes in that zipper material but that didn't cause any leaks. Stiff double boa's, there's a few out there. Nidecker Index/ Kit, 32 tm2, Nitro chase, DC travis rice, just to name a few. I'd find what boot manufacturers fit your foot shape to narrow it down as snug fit is super important. The best way i've heard to do this, is to take out the liner and see how many fingers you can fit behind in between the shell and your foot. Also got to figure out the footprint of the boot, as some are bulkier than others even though they might be same size. IMO less is more, so lower footprint is preferable, double boa and stiff. Still think the verse is a solid boot, but not sure if that hole that is forming is a deal breaker for you. Like I said there's a hole in that fabric in my previous set of boots, and they lasted me 3 seasons of hard riding. The fabric is just to stop the snow getting in. It doesn't add any structure or support to the boot itself.

Thanks for a nice review, what about the footprint? It seems that Vans are bulkier this year with the new outsole.
