It's funny how this sort of living has caught on. My wife's grandfather when he retired sold his house and 2 acres of land (everyone thought he was nuts) and built his own live in motor home. He then built a small one to travel in. Enjoyed life until he passed on.

Thank you for the tour, it is an excellent build. What I've learned by looking at so many videos on van builds, class b rv's, my experience as an otr driver and dispatcher for a total of 17 yrs and my past/current career field in the marine industry as seamstress /upholstery for a total of 16 yrs is that within the van life, you build what you need and want. I like their build because it fits them and their needs and took what I needed for me. I look at the class b rv's because the space they're building on is the same scale as a van and they're the experts with decades of experience. Since having an interest in doing a van build, I've paid more attention to the products we use in your boats. I really like systems used to making my everyday life practical, functional and to my design. I will continue to do my research up until my build starting in Aug.

My step dad used to be a boat builder/ he has been a sailor since he was a very young boy and so my parents motor home (a 33 foot Bedford bus) was built just like a yacht by my dad and they also call it their land yacht. I am so glad to see more people using solar and “typical” house appliances. We run normal standard house washing machine/ fridge/ kettle/ toaster etc and people never believe us that we don’t run gas or generators. That's an amazing van. Last summer I built a solar system for my popup trailer. I put 2 250w panels on the roof with a homemade tilting system. I used 4 6v t-125 Trojan batteries @ 580ah 12v. but I would love to ugrade to lithium ion. I use a TS-mppt-30a charge controller and a 2000w/4000w pure sine wave inverter. It's a good system but I think I over paid going with the TriStar change controller. There are a lot of cheaper options that are just as reliable. On our last trip we went from LA to Seattle and back. It was our first time boondocking.

I never commented on a van build before. I never really cared for that type of living. To many sacrifices and hygiene can (to me) become iffy. When you say that radiant heating and your 2 gallon shower are luxuries, I will have to politely disagree. I think they are a necessity. You save on water usage with your shower system. As you stated when only carrying 30 gallons, it is a game changer. When you use radiant heating, you can be assured that it is safe to use. That using propane or fire elements such as a pellet stove, for heating your van, you are risking your health. So radiant heating isn’t a luxury, it also becomes a necessity. Overall I think this is the best van I have ever seen. I could very easily live in something like this. It is the best of everything. Good job. Good luck in your life endeavors.

Except that the radiant heating is running off a hydronic diesel heater which doesn't use very much electricity, bc it's relying on the diesel fuel. Diesel consumption isn't something you'd bat an eye at when you're in cold climates, which is the whole point of even having radiant heat. Diesel "gels" up at low temperatures. What that means is that below about 40°F, certain hydrocarbons in diesel turn gelatinous. If it reaches a cloud point where the wax cystals start to develop, it can clog your equipment. Seems like alot of maintenance just to have heat. I'm better off with a radiator running off propane. Propane has been used for nearly a century with no more issues than the standard gas heating in a typical household. It's simpler and much easier to maintain, if safety is your concern. Complexity usually means more maintenance. More maintenance means more spending. More spending means less enjoyment of other aspects of this lifestyle.

Although I think the shower doors could be better each door being a double door opening into building the shower cabin without any curtain needed ... but that was about the only improvement I could think about. Now if only you could get these young tech guys to meet up Lee the old engineer guy that super optimizes his van ... that would be the pinnacle of van builds.

That is the bomb man. Particular that recirculating shower. Definitely beats all to hell standing in a bucket with a pump in the bottom to recirculate your shower water.😄 (though not to knock those people. they did a pretty good hack for living in small camper van). I hope they have totally patented or whatever that system. They could probably sell it to a company like Roadtrek or whoever for millions of dollars.

All they're doing is recirculating and filtering 2 gallons of water . There's nothing to patent here since it's nothing new, it's basically doing the same thing an aquarium is doing . They're probably the first people to implement this into a van's showering system though . I've been planning my own system for years now and was planning to do something similar if I ever moved back to the US. They did beat me to it though but my system would be more advanced if I ever get around to making it .

@@kathrynwitte3398 I with you in part. You're also talking with a guy that has a architectural engineering degree. But in my other videos I preach that the beautiful thing about van builds is we can be selfish and design/build them for our personal needs. There's going to be some that love people's design and functionality and others that say "I would of done ____" and in my opinion there is no right or wrong and that's why I like to show other layouts and designs. Reason I wanted to show them was the systems they've put in are huge for someone that lives full time in a van. If you ever have lived this way I'm sure you'd understand (I don't know if you have and please don't take out of context). Another example is my van and a lot of said my cooktop is too close to my bed, I don't get upset but I was working with 72 square feet and I knew my needs. I'm sure Wes and Savanna designed this knowing how much they'd cook or have needs around their lifestyle. Again please don't take out of context as I'm not trying to be mean as I like talking and having conversations about this is all :)

There's alot of issues putting in a recycling shower. It might make more sense for a home, bc you can build a bigger filtration system. But in an RV or Van, the system isn't big enough for proper and long-lasting filtration. 'Sure, you can remove hair and skin cells with a small filter, and you can *possibly* sterilize the water if you have a big enough UV lamp, but how are you removing body oils and soluble organics? You aren't. No way to "filter" out shampoo out of water, either, or the perfumes from soaps, detergents, etc. Furthermore, the pH of that water is going to get very alkaline if you are using bar soap, and that's going to start making scum out of the minerals in the water (calcium). It's a really neat idea, but likely to become a complete mess after about 4 showers'. My guess is he's got the plumbing exposed to handle the maintenance that he'll likely have to deal with. If you're a plumber or handyman, then this might be worth getting. But for the common household or RV/Van Lifer, I'm assuming it's not incorporated bc it's not sustainable nor convenient for long-term use.
