(Vanilla) Don't Starve - Ancient Guardian Speedrun (
I mostly just did this to test whether speedrunning was viable on a controller (and get better at using one while I was at it), overall mouse and keyboard is still obviously better but I did find that using a controller has a few small advantages that might make it a couple seconds faster in some categories so controller is actually far more viable for speedrunning than people give it credit for, it just has a steeper learning curve
never touching this category again, it took me like 7 hours of attempts total throughout the whole week spread across multiple devices and game versions just to get this run

I only started running this because there are scheduled power outages where I live and I started grinding attempts on my phone on the pocket edition with a crappy controller I had (this attempt was done on PC though)
Man the loot was so bad back then

Is it just me or does the lighting in the caves look different than in DST? I kinda dig it more 🤔

Yeah, caves are flat out infuriating to be in when you're playing original DS. At least if you're coming from DST. All of the information you use in DST for finding the next biomes and collecting cave resources feel basically antiquated. Biomes are all wrong like with bunnymen and batilisks everywhere in the wrong biomes. No free light sources for logging in, barely any light in the caves. I probably don't really know the works but it just felt oppressive living in caves, especially with really sucky character options.
