This one song is an extraordinary contribution by Vangelis. National song for the planet earth!

I was 3 or 4 years old when this came out. My mother had bought it on vinyl. It was the first song I can recall being played in our family home. My mother always played the record at full blast! …Fast forward 40 years. My mother and my father have both passed away. My only sibling, my sister, is 3 years older than me. I’m teaching her to play ukulele. The first song we played together was “Chariots of Fire”. In memory of our mother. It’s such a fun song to play on ukulele, and such a stunningly beautiful piece of music to listen to, no matter who’s playing, or what instrument, it’s just an amazing piece of music! My mother would be so proud to see her two children playing her favorite song on a couple ukuleles, she would be so touched. I hope that she can hear us, I like to believe that she can. Music like this transcends time and space, living and dead, and creates a link or a bond between people that cannot be unbroken, regardless of any circumstances. It’s a beautiful thing, having such fond memories of our mother and this song on the record player, as loud as that thing could get, and here we are 40 years later playing the song together with a pair of ukuleles and just hoping that she can hear us. Thank you, Vangelis, for this beautiful music, among so many, and the beautiful memories, you too are well loved, and will be deeply missed. I’ll keep practicing, and when I’ve got it down perfectly, I will play the song for you!

Such a beautiful loving story about your Mom, your parents, the children & the beautiful music you grew up with. Your Mom can hear you & likely visits when you play this, the most beautiful music ever written. I feel my Mom around frequently, she speaks to my mind, she reminds me of favourite songs & hymns, recipes, stories, etc. etc. Many many people have visits from loved ones gone to Heaven...believe that your parents visit you & still spend time with you, because you do. Some people feel frightened when these things happen...I am never frightened, I am happy, because this has been happening to me since I was a very little girl

What touches my heart s the way all of us, wherever we are, Egypt, America and beyond share a common bond through music! If only our political leaders could follow our lead, and work for peace instead of division, for joy and forgiveness rather than hate, and mutual destruction. Then as one person wrote, we would discover Fire for the second time, and Love which heals us all!

Im 43 now, they played this song on my communion. Or the person who made the tape has put this song under the communion movie. Doesn t matter. What matters is, that i still got emotional when i hear this song. Thinking of the tape. My godchild has done her communion recently. Im making a dvd of all the pics and movies the friends have made of this special day. Of course i will start with the pics, and guess which song? This one of course! Maybe i take this 1 hour version! Hearing this in my head and visualizing the beach running scene kept me going when I didn't think I could make it the whole 5 1/2 ron up and down hills, etc 5 days a week, then during the 1600 and 3200 m events at the track meets. Thank you for the inspiration, Vangelis! May your soul rest in peace.

Its amazing how this simple piece of music with no half-notes and high learnability still inspires people today. If this isn't genius, I don't know what is!
