It dosen't stop there... Vangelis - A song. About two minutes in to the track, you'll hear it. Hans Zimmer uses this part repeatedly in Interstellar.

To all who want to accuse Hans of having copied Vangelis's music, be aware that taking inspiration is totally fine. That's both with law and with logic. It's art, you shouldn't be limited to just use a new theory for your work. In fact you almost can't make a totally new music! Can u make up a melody and be certain it hasn't ever been used in history? Making a mudic composition its not about making up a new melody ( invent a new melody ) , it's about using the right one. Did the Hans's music suit the Interstellar theme well? Did you feel emotional with the music along with the film footages? Then Hans has done his part well.

Hello, i never said that Hans's inspiration (obvious copy or not) was bad. I was just surprised to see how close these two melodies were. The interstellar album is one of the album i love and still listenning to. I love Zimmer's work (especially Dunkirk, interstellar, blade runner 2049, dune...). As a musician too, i like To sample things i like. I'm a huge fan of the chemical brothers and they are constantly sampling and/or take over music from the past. So, from my point of view, i have no problems with all of that. I have problems with artists who does not work enough the samples they used (like some music of Daft Punk who "just" make a loop and add a kick...). Sorry for my english, cheers from France 🖖

Yeah, the second half of the video, where the two melodies are combined completely proves they have nothing more than similarities. They don't match at all, you hear cometeplly conflichting harmonies and keys, even. There;s nothing to this theory. Zimmer owes a lot to Vangelis, but that is in sound, in spirit, in inspiration. Definitely not the themes to Interstellar.
