For many years, I had anxiety and regret around not starting my career in the field that I’m in sooner because I felt very very lost stumbling through all of the different fields and roles, and only in hindsight do the dots connect. I’m better at what I do now because I learned the lessons in all of the different jobs. Even something like being an executive assistant, I was able to sit in on more senior leadership meetings, and I really early picked up on short attention span, How do you get your point across concisely, What do they care about? And I think that made me a better researcher right away, even as I was still learning the practice because it taught me something about communication…I think all of those little pieces along the way just shaped how I interact with people and I think has made me better at what I do today.
