I remember being a teary, proud 16 yr old Aussie, watching 19 yr old Vanessa belt this song out! It is still extremely moving to listen to, to this day! #heroesliveforever 🌿

I was an extremely proud Aussie to be in the stadium that night for the Opening Ceremony ... best live performance by a singer I have ever seen or will see. Magnificent performance.
vanessa Amorosi is the most under rated singer of all time. Australia has some amazing singers that the world doesnt know about

This is one amazing moment not only in Olympic - but international relations - history. So much emotion - it actually has the power to make you tear up. And what a production with a full live orchestra. My GOD Australia - you really can step up to the mark when you have to!

When it comes to our talent we shine just a pity the rest of the world misses out really.. we are truly lucky to have the artists we have and are spoilt because they sound so good live, they really run rings around the American artists hands down..

I was there Sydney Olympics went off. The whole city was so alive
Imagine if we had the social Media today back then. She would’ve been TRENDING! She learnt to hold the note like you play the didgeridoo- breath out and breathing back in nose so there’s always a cycle of air. Absolutely talented !
She is one of the best talents Australia has produced.
Every time I hear this very powerful song, I can’t help but get chocked up with a great sense of Emotion and Pride. To stand on a stage with a worldwide audience watching at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 at the age of 19 years old. All I can say is WHAT A VOICE.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🧡

There were 110,000 people in the Olympic stadium for the Sydney Olympics. What the video doesn’t dhow (& it annoyed me 20 years ago, and still does now)... the dove projected onto the flag covering the athletes turns into many doves and the ‘fly’ away. The olympics don’t use real doves any more after the ones at Seoul in 1988 decided to roost on the edge of the olympic cauldron & were bbqed when they lit the flame!

She still did the whole vocal in a live recorded session in the stadium. The performance was pre-recorded, but she really did sing all of that in the stadium before the actual performance
