Moved from Vancouver to Calgary in 2021. It's now 2022 and I'm still in Calgary! I fell in love with Calgary right away within first week! Vancouver? Let's just say I've lived in Vancouver 20 years trying to convince myself it's the best place but kept falling short on so many levels for me. Vancouver best place on earth they say? It's not! Not even close! Calgary However can easily win that title over Vancouver anytime! I ❤ Calgary 😍

I moved to Canada from India in 2018 , lived in GTA for a year, even bought an house in Ajax but then had to relocate to Calgary cos of Job and travel to Vancouver/Victoria offer for business..below is my summary of the cities - GTA - never , may be Durham region a bit but other areas are strictly a no -no for me , barring Vaughan n Richmond. Between Calgary and Vancouver - Cost of Living - Calgary Crime - Calgary , don't even get me started on Vancouver's east end Entertainment- may be Vancouver, I am not into clubbing as I am wrong side of 30 so I don't know Outdoor - Calgary hands down, even without Banff/Lake Louise, the city of Calgary itself has so many wonderful parks, lakes - eg Glenmore reserve, and no junkies thugs fill the park like that of Vancouver Traffic - Calgary, driving in Vancouver is a nightmare, no dedicated left lane at most traffic lights and the city crawls in those haphazardly planned city lanes Weather - Calgary , even the harsh winters are bearable in Calgary as it's the sunniest city in Canada whereas in Vancouver for all the hype about weather it just rains n rains , on top of that no Uber so good luck on street to hail a taxi on the street while drenched in the rain Job - Well on paper it may seem that Calgary has lower number of opportunities, but I can bet for any similar job, Calgary would always pay better than almost all Canadian cities To raise a family - Calgary Feel free to disagree with me, but I found Vancouver so much overrated when all I could see is homeless people on the streets with syringes scattered all over, always depressingly overcast and raining for the most part and even lesser pay for same jobs than in Calgary. When has prices were less than a $ in Calgary in '19 , it was almost $1.6 in Vancouver..like WTF.. For all its wokeness and climate crusaders, BC earns most of its revenues from taxing fossil fuel. Hey Vancouver, if the schools n colleges are so much better why haven't they be able to come up with alternative for gas cars and wait for Tesla to do so... For the antipathy towards fossil fuel. Vancouver has probably most number of Instagramers showing off their gas guzzling sports cars

To justify moving to Vancouver from Calgary and taking on housing costs SIX TIMES GREATER there would have to be something really spectacular about Vancouver to justify this. I have visited Vancouver for short periods of time and it is nice place and yes the weather was nice but you also get a lot of rain too. We might be cooler in Calgary but at least the the sun is shining. OK we had a hail storm or two and it does get bone-chilling cold sometimes but it doesn't last that long. How long is the rainy season in Vancouver? Van has lots more things to do, I'll give you that and Van wins on the public transportation battle. no contest there, public transport in Calgary sucks!. Jobs? Are there really more per capita in Van and even if you get one where are you going to get the other 5 full-time jobs you will need to pay for that extra housing costs, or is the minimum wage in Van now 90 bucks an hour? If the housing was a little higher in Van you may have an argument , and yes you could move to the burbs and have a 1.5 hours * 2 commute each day but who wants that? Nice try but Calgary wins hands down. NO CONTEST. Good video btw!

I agree. Alberta better than bc in many ways. Vanvouver is too expensive for rent and fuel as welll. Ridiculously high rents vancover also has.too many yuppy assholes really vanvobuer has most stuck up miserable woman in Canada. Woman are too uptight in Vancouver all the high cost has made many people very miserable. Vanvouver has the mountains close by but the city of Vancouver as a whole SUCKS. Concrete and city is ugly. Mountains are beautiful and Alberta has better mountain views. Vancover is took expensive and no place is worth the 1.4 million average cost to buy home 🏡. Ridiculous vancover sucks really. Many of us leave because it is not worth the price to live here

Lived in Vancouver for 5 years and Calgary for 20. I know both cities very well. Calgary takes most categories hands down when it comes to liveability for the average person. Calgary has sunshine 333 days per year. Vancouver has sunshine 180 days per year. Calgary is much more affordable for pretty much everything. My dollar goes about 30% further in Calgary. Calgarians are much friendlier and easier to engage that Vancouverites. I have found it much easier to make friends in Calgary. Both cities have amazing and easy access to nature. Vancouver has the ocean and calgary has beautiful river systems. Vancouver has more robust food and entertainment culture but Calgary isn’t far behind. I chose to move to Calgary to have more sunshine and to be able to have a disposable income again. I am very happy with my choice to move to Calgary. Both cities are pretty awesome but it depends on what you are after

And don't take bullshit from no one. Vancouver is full of flakes in my experience. Big talk little to show for it. 20 years and leaving Vancouver was the BEST thing that ever happened to me.

between the two that ive found different Albertains drive fucking insane in and out of lanes vancouver isnt as bad alberta, better housing costs pretty well wherever you go and you also dont need to work in an oil field like mentioned to enjoy a comfortable living van - have fun ( someone who is from maple ridge ) still need to pay upwards 1600 for a basement suite with dogs and kids running upstairs with a family of 5, unless you know someone for something that is 1200.. alberta- flat.. oh well id rather live happier than live with a gun to my head if i miss a day of work. Also not many people have the luxury of being by mountains, so most people live flat anyways. take it or leave it. van... well, alot to do, most main concerts happen there. but if you live in the interior , you can always drive to them.. dont forget the snow on hwy 1 or crowsnest. i moved to a small town in the interior, less stressful here lots of work, just plow your road and youll be fine, if thats too much for you. enjoy the rain!

Vancouver doesn't have the advantage in education (for k12) and jobs. Alberta shares the top ranking with Quebec in PISA score. Putting them on par with Japan! People from BC move to Alberta for jobs. People from Alberta move to BC for the better weather, but then have to move back due to lack of jobs. While in Vancouver it doesn't get much snow, it does constantly rain at near freezing temperatures all winter. Dry Calgary snow vs being soaked at near Zero temperature.

@@RafaelPernia Then you need to reform the justice system and city hall. Most dealers are arrested, only to be back on the streets a day latter because, there's just nowhere to put them. The Remand centre is beyond capacity. If you want a new jail built, well... then things like PST need to happen. You want more police on the ground... property taxes need to go higher. For city hall, City is going broke with stupid spending on things like spending millions on road signs, to lower the speed rate from 50 to 40 and spending more millions putting in road bike paths, that really get used 3 months of the year. For major offenders, one gets arrested, another pops up. Poverty brings desperate measures and if the price is right, people are willing to do most anything. With the unemployment rate Calgary has right now, poverty is a major issue. You want to cut the snake at the head, got to take the cartels in Mexico and China down. Their own government's can't stop it so ... yeah.. that's going to be a tough one.

It’s pronounced CAL-gary, not cal-GA-ry. I couldn’t finish watching the video because of the pronunciation.

It's unfortunate you didn't compare Edmonton as well. In my opinion, it is a more beautiful city than Calgary and has a better cultural environment. It also tends to be less conservative than Calgary. The winters tend to be colder, however.

Calgary has better freeways than Vancouver. Canada's second ring road is almost complete. Vancouver has the edge for public transit. Ours in Calgary suck!
