Love this channel

Howe sound is pretty dry for pinks “yet” . Trolling @ Furry Creek on the long was pretty dismal. Tried a few different lures , hoochies to no avail . Beach anglers were coming and going home empty handed . Boogied over towards Port Mellon I thought pinks might be sneaking up that side of the sound Defence Island area. Nothing showing there so I scooted back before the white caps showed . It did get really windy in the afternoon as usual so I packed it in for the day . Still a beautiful morning to relax and cruise around scouting.

Thanks for the report Matt. Very low water here on the Vedder already. The chinook summer run that was very strong for the last two years has proven very small this year. We're hoping that they're just late, but so far we're seeing about 20% of the numbers we had last year. With the low clear water I can do pretty accurate snorkel surveys and I'm seeing as few as one chinook per kilometer of river. The Chilliwack lake Sockeye are coming in in good numbers though, so it's not all bad news.

Ya that’s what We are hearing too petr -Hope the Low water is just slowing them down. Keep posting the snorkel footage. We all love that stuff 🤟

FYI, the hatchery manager at Capilano has said that Metro Vancouver will only do the water releases at night to minimize risks as well as provide the opportunity when the fish are moving. Also Eric was saying in the written report that the pinks off Ambleside are mixed-up but there is actually a new run of pink salmon that the hatchery guys are working on. The website hasn't been updated but they are doing Coho, Chinook, Chum, Pinks and Steelhead these days.

Do you have thermometers at the shop? I live in Squamish near the Mamquam/Squamish confluence and could easily take readings every day or two. Lost my thermometer though so need to grab a new one.

I just check and a bunch went out the door over the last week. Unfortunately we are out. We will try to get some in fast.

Hi Matt, my friends and I made the run to South Bowen yesterday morning and the water was super choppy. I'm just wondering which forecast should we look at and how to determine if it's safe to go out there. It was very sketchy

pinks are showing themselves in the chuck around the east side of the island. hopefully the enter CR and others soon. can't wait!
