Thanks for the content. Been buying parts all winter/spring and getting ready for a big refresh. Deleting the driver swivel hadn’t occurred to me, good idea!

Thanks! Only thing I miss about the driver seat is the height. I’m 6’3” and now that the seat is about an inch lower I kinda miss the height. But worth it I’d say! I may add in some rails to get the height back.

Excellent vid and full of ideas for a 1987 Westy owner! I’m gonna be starting some suspension upgrade so I will look at your video on suspension. I have the GSD one and a half inch lift with gas shocks, but do need upper bushings and control arm bushings. Hopefully your video will have information around that. Cheers.

Very nice modifications, this gives me some ideas. Watched your video on the suspension work, kudos to you for tackling that! I wouldn’t have the nerve to try it myself (yet). My 1991 Westy has the 2.2L Subi conversion. Not as much oomph as yours but with a tailwind can get a bit over 70mph. I appreciate that your first project was the stereo, gotta have good music while driving, camping or fixing the van! Cheers.

Hey dude I just saw your video on a DIY rope tow for skiing, im planning on installing one aswell, but I don't have any welding knowledge. do you think it is possible for the motor to be mounted on pipes buried 6ft+ into the ground. Also what type of electric motor did you end up going with, I also live in canada (sudbury) so I'll need something that will last this season through the cold.

You could probably bolt the steel platform together and not weld. The motor is a 3hp electric motor from princess auto. It operates on 220v. Linked to a 10:1 gearbox. Most of the parts were from princess auto. Good luck with the build!
