Seems easy enough, I'll try it on my old single shot. Thanks for the video.

I'm impressed. Saves a lot of money versus sending the whole gun or the barrel to have it done.

Fantastic touch-up compound. Available online? Can it be used to do a complete reblue or is it only for touch-ups?

Boy I sure hope this works on my new 1911 I just bought.... It was my first firearm and I was very distracted with the whole process as I've never bought a gun before. I can assure you had I seen that scratch I would have not chosen said firearm just because I'm very OCD about stuff like that and I tend to take very good care of my things and do not let them get scratched like this. Even as I brought it home I didn't notice due to the excitement of bringing home my first firearm. 😔 I'm rather sad about it. I never have money as I'm disabled and can not qualify for disability here in AZ because it's almost impossible to.... I sold several of my possessions as well as borrowed money from several close friends and family members and I feel like a fool for overlooking such a large scratch. I'm going to try this method and pray it works. Thanks for the information!

Good you got something to defend yourself. I think I made the same mistake on my P99, I don't think it's had a good life. But, remember, it's a tool. It will get scratched, it will get beat up. It will be your protector when you need it. So don't be scared to take it to the range and practice. Make sure you know how to use it safely and accurately. We're responsible for every round, and letting your misses happen at the range is better than in your home with family or in public with bystanders.

@@prestonnewcomb5991 Yeah I realized once I brought it back to the shop and showed it to them they told me it probably came from the factory like that I'm not really so certain that's the case but he showed me pictures of his and just the normal where you get from your holster it's bound to get scratches like you said it's a tool. I plan on every couple years or so treating myself to a birthday present of a rebluing job. I was wondering if you knew anything about that because I was talking to the owner of Vin's bluing and he said "the amount of sanding required is a bit scary" lol His words not mine I doubt a gunsmith would care about my colt etching or roll marks Do you think they would be able to sand gently around them or is that kind of etching and role mark safe from sanding? I kind of doubt it is And I feel like Colt would handle that situation better even though it would be more pricey I'm assuming

@@ElHombreGato Treat yourself to another gun instead. Cost of blueing can easily be in the triple digits. I just bought myself a Heritage Barkeep 22 for about $150. Awesome and fun little single action 22. I can shoot in a rural area, so no range safety staff to yell at me about fanning it. It's not a real antique so I can beat it up and have fun. When I went into the shop asking to buy something fun, the girl at the shop knew exactly which gun to point out. I got into the hobby to make sure I had something for self-defense, but there's a lot of fun to be had at the range. About to take my Shockwave out and blast some raptor targets in a couple weeks. Definitely have more fun than stress in this hobby.

@@prestonnewcomb5991 now the Colt 1911 Is my EDC/workhorse she's going to get regular wear but a couple $100 every 5 years isn't a big deal to me just to give her a new coat of paint so to say every 5 or 6 years isn't a big deal. I'm actually planning on picking up a new Colt SAA that I'm going to use all the practice I've put in on my Denix replica SAA peacemaker. And I live in Arizona so open carry is completely allowed don't mind me as I walk past you in the grocery store dressed like someone from 1895 lol I'm sure I get a lot of people who laugh at me and think I'm stupid but I'm happy, and my daughter loves to be just like her papa so she's got her own little cowgirl outfits and these cute cow girl boots that everyone compliments.... she's my little cowgirl and I'm her Six shooting Papa lol. That's only for special occasions though if I'm going to an event or something like that mostly it's too late relatively old school style of dress but under my vest will be a 1911. When taxes come I'm definitely picking up a craft holsters vertical shoulder holster. And maybe a matching belt and two more mags. The cool thing about those holsters is it can convert to a OWB for summer time when I'm wearing as little as possible flip flops, short cargo shorts and a tee, with a OWB...Now that's a GREAT look

Parkerizing is usually a sort of frosted finish. Smooth but really flat black could be Cerakote.

Don't worry about it that much🤷‍♂ Adds character. I know how you feel but in the end, it's a tool. And I'm sure you don't intend to sell it, so who cares about resale value? Probably wouldn't change it anyways.
