nicole henry Was I’m 20 and I searched for this song since I’m not home right now and I nearly cried listening to it because it just reminds me so much of being at home
Michael Barnett of Kool 97 FM officially introduced me to Van McCoy's music. Been a fan ever since. Don't want to say 'gone too soon' because his body of work is so vast and I am sure that a la Lou Rawls ,"This song is gonna last forever , after we're dead and gone.........."

Nice. Maestro extraordinaire!!! He was a great one!!
Van McCoy was the Rembrant of r&b music and is greatly missed 40 years later.
Thought i was the only one who really loved listening to this song on a sunday, glad to know that others also found peace and tranquility in this masterpiece...those early days back home in Jamaica were special.

Love this song so much… just found it again … in Jamaica
The chorus bocca chiusa it's simply the most marvelous I ever ever heard. Van McCoy had a huge success here in Brazil, but this incredible song was never played. Gone too soon the Real McCoy!

I have a cassette tape that I did of an AM radio station of in October of 1975. It was one of Van MacCoys big hits and I've loved him ever since. I was in a Boarding School for being a disruptive child and I had this big SW MW Valve Wireless that I used to listen for good music. I was a white boy growing up in Launceston Tasmania, 13 years old at the time. Black music you couldn't get in Tasmania but only the occasional Motown was played on the radio during those days. I've always loved Black Music and Soul and we had no Internet in those days. The 1970s were the best days ever in my life growing up in Launceston Tasmania. The music was full of love back then, but now it's full of hate! Very sad days we living in now. .😏

@@Tassie20 Unfortunately, you're right. Fortunately, KZread brings back the 70's golden era on music.
Classic without a reason of a doubt
J .B.C.,on a Sunday, R.J.R.F.M. on a Sunday Fame F.M. on a Sunday. No I have Kool F.M.thanks to those Radio Stations. Introduced me to a lot of songs, now they are oldies but goodies.

Undeniably faith hope and charity doing the backing.Their vocal style certainly goes so well with vanmccoys arrangements.Takes some beating.
This is from the Lonely Dancer album
Awesome song by phenomenal Van McCoy.
I think this was his last song before dying of an Heart attack, it sounded like a requiem to me at the time, or an admission that he is about to die, since he wrote [MY HEART IS READY TO STOP], I still love it though, although in a melancholy and nostalgic way.
there is something about this song, its really amazing so to speak, i don't know why but i love it very much, its a smooth and relaxing song.
I love this one .I think I have someone to relay the message in this song to

LOL, Oh, I'm a lady, so it was the guy whose merry-go-round I had to say stop---and let me off! He did apologize, but I did not like the ride. Happy to get my feet back on the ground. Don't like merry-go-rounds anyway.

Still free after 5 years 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
His voice is tridimensional ranging, from Baritone/midrange and floating falsetto, a complete musical package when compared with his song writing, and arrangement skills, he has not enjoyed the full appreciation of his ability, gone too Early.
Saw a comment about the similarity of this cut in: kzread.info/dash/bejne/go1o0cZwnrvOmtY.html I don't see the similarity but I see Van McCoy's creativity. At first I thought about his "DO THE HUSTLE" kzread.info/dash/bejne/hXqur9Vrg7GTXdY.html Check it out. All those Jamaica references in the comments seems to indicate Mc coy was appreciated.
