Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I've been loving you from a distance
Oh ain't love wonderful
Only a fool in love would understand (Would understand)
'Cause the greatest joy in life (Joy in life)
Is for me to get next to you (For me to get next to you)
Cause I know one day you'll make me a happy man (Happy happy)
[Chorus]
It's your mixed up moods and your attitudes
I don't need them (I don't)
I dont need them
Hang 'em high
Up on a New York side
Why, to see
Mixed up moods and attitudes
I can't use them (I can't)
I can't use them
Hang 'em high
Up on a New York side
[Verse 2]
The day you walked into my life was confusing
It was hard for me to see
What you were using (You were using)
But since that time
I've earned this song
That's been done to me so many times before
And baby I ain't falling for that no more (Not no more)
You know why
[Chorus]
It's your mixed up moods and your attitudes
I don't need them (I don't)
I dont need them
Hang 'em high
Up on a New York side
For why, to see
Mixed up moods and your attitudes
I can't use them (I can't)
I sure can't use them
Hang 'em high
Up on the New York side
[Verse 3]
One minute, a perfect angel
Then the next you're a silly silly clown
Take a smile filled with happiness
Turn it upside down (Upside down)
First you say you love me
Then again, say you don't (For me to get next to you)
Do you promise to always be by my side
Now you tell me that you won't
You know why (I know why)
[Chorus]
It's your mixed up moods and your attitudes
I don't need them (I don't)
I dont need them
Hang 'em high
Up on a New York side
For why, to see
Mixed up moods and attitudes
I can't use them (I can't)
I sure can't use them
Hang 'em high
Up on a New York side
[guitar solo]
[Verse 4]
I been loving you from a distance
Oh ain't love wonderful
But only a fool in love would understand (Would understand)
Cause the greatest joy in life (Joy in life)
Is for me to get next to you (For me to get next to you)
Cause I know one day you'll make me a great big man
(Great big man)
You know what
[Chorus x4]
It's your mixed up moods and your attitudes
I don't need them (I don't)
I dont need them
Hang 'em high
Up on a New York side
For why, to see
Mixed up moods and attitudes
I dont need them (I don't)
I sure can't use them
Hang 'em high
Up on a New York side

It's so funny that so many Jamaicans are commenting so passionately on a song and group that isn't even reggae or local. That just goes to show the greatness of our radio and party DJs like Disco Kid back in the days. We really were exposed to a wide range of gooood music. Boy, miss dem days, fi real.

God. As a kid in Jamaica my brother would play the hell out of this song.lol Heard it playing on the radio a few days ago. Couldn't remember the group or title but searched tirelessly as remembered song of the words. Happy I found it . Great song

I used to play this album as a teenager growing up in Jamaica. They took the show on the road ,left me standing in the shadows was also a BIG tune. In those days you could play music until 4am. without Babylon trespassing bout lock off the music.

THEY TOOK THE SHOW ON THE ROAD… I saw them on the street, they left me out; the feeling was too much to bear They passed me by and I could see they never noticed, I was even there I guess to her I was just a nickel-dime performance So now she feels that she must go on to a better romance They took the show on the road, left me standing in the shadows They took the show on the road, left me standing in the shadows I’m not one to envy someone’s fortune, someone else’s happiness But if I could, I’d surely would exchange and he, like me, would never miss Cause they’re running all over town… being seen in intimate places Running it in the ground, smiling for the … ?aces They took the show on the road and left me standing in the shadows They took it…took the show on the road, left me standing in the shadows Well, it wouldn’t hurt so bad if there’s nobody didn’t know it But to act like they’re on-stage and stand before the world to show it They took the show on the road, left me standing (Ohh) in the shadows They took it…took the show on the road, left me standing in the shadows
