Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this KZread channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Little did they know they were going to live in a van and now they are back at Airplanes, airport lounges, and much much more! I can’t wait to see what this next few years bring!!!
By Canada standards, that amount of snow is what we call "a light dusting".

I'm from Canada and have experienced snowdrifts up to the second story windows of our house. Watching Kara and Nate exclaim over snow just as much as they over the beauty of the Bosnia salt flats or the Amazon wildlife just makes me giggle. Snow is such a common thing to me. But I suppose the Sherpas on Everest probably don't bat an eyelid over those vistas anymore, either. It is fun seeing Canada through Kara and Nate, though, I guess I really should appreciate what we have more than I do.

Visiting a country that has winter if you've never experienced it truly is so different than living it. Most people are affected by seasonal depression and honestly... If I didn't love this country so much I'd probably move somewhere without winters. Getting up in the morning and not seeing the sun rise until 8/9 am (in southern Ontario too) and having it set before you get home, around 5 pm ONTOP of freezing cold temperatures, bad road conditions and having to deal with snow management, then the flooding... Is much different for us as residents. I'm always facinated by tourists who are excited by snow.

Love this guys!! 10yrs ago the wife and I sold our house and everything we had in the UK, and brought a one way flight ticket to Australia. We brought an old Toyota HiAce van, smaller than your Transit, and lived it that driving around Australia for 12 months! Loved it, best experience ever, and when we sold it we only lost $1000 on it which is nothing really for 12 months use. Ended up coming to New Zealand next and never left :) . Love you vlogs, keep up the great work, and go for Van Life for a full year :)

What they need in a van if they ever bought one: A way to make coffee ✔ A fridge ✔ A bed that converts to a couch ✔ That list really came in handy!
The reason I love you two is because you are so enthusiastic and fun. The reason I love your channel is because you make me realize that there are so many places I actually do want to visit and so many things I do want to experience. I never in a million years would have thought I would want to travel parts of Canada in a van, but these *vlogs* have been so exciting to me. Not to mention beautiful. Edited bc voice to text does not recognize Vlog as a word :)
I’ve been watching Kara and Nate from the start since Corona lockdown began. It’s really funny to get to this point in their history, listening to them say how their minimal travelling habits suit van life, while simultaneously watching their current (Nov 2020) uploads of their own van travels across the US! Kara: “I think we could do this for a season. I think I could live this life for awhile.”... premonition!
The level of professionalism in your filming and editing is remarkable. And your enthusiasm is equally inspiring! Thank you.
As soon as I saw the snow next to Nate’s head I thought “please bite it! You have to bite it!” Haha. So glad you did, Nate. ;)

Watching this in 2023 and it’s so cool seeing your guys first taste of van life and snowy mountains after knowing you lived in a van for a year, went to Antarctica, and the North Pole, and are now back to full time airplane travel 🥺
Haha, I laughed when you were excited about a foot of snow and it being the most snow you'd seen in your life. It's funny how perspective changes based on your experiences. The fall colors with a dusting of snow on them was very pretty.
Gotta say, having watched you 2 fly & travel all over foreign countries, this is the most relaxed, rested & happy that I've seen you. And, yes, most van lifers's beds turn into couches & work areas in the daytime! 😁💜💚💙
I stopped (for a moment) @:46, Nate, I think the morning cup of coffee is one of the greatest things you can do for your wonderful wife!
I love snow, and this video is really pack with beautiful snowy scenery! Thank YOU both, have fun and can't wait to see the next video!
So many people in this comment section are asking about bathrooms and showers. Road trips in the western parts of Canada and the US are super convenient. There are public bathrooms and showers everywhere. Campgrounds, RV parks, rest areas, service stations, aquatic centers, etc. There are also public lands everywhere you go. When going deep into the wilderness, very often sleeping in a vehicle will be a lot more convenient than trying to find a hotel somewhere. So don't let the bathroom situation stop anyone from experiencing it on your own.

Hi Kara & Nate - Nice van tour - we've been in our van since May this year and you get used to it - looks like you're having a fab time. Having a bed that turns into a sofa is great but it means you have to make the bed every night and if one of you wakes up before then its easier having a separate table. Loved the drone shots - and the filming as always - thanks for sharing another awesome vlog 🚐👍😀 Chris & Marianne
Another great vlog! Thank you for this view of Canada 🇨🇦
Laughing at your "snow wonder" from Minnesota! So cute
As someone who grew up in the Sierra Nevada, your excitement over a foot of snow CRACKS. ME. UP.
I literally love you guys both and your videos. I binge watch them all the time. You guys are living in my dreams when I am older enough I want to travel around the world. 💜
This reminded me of driving the ALCAN in june 2013.. it was summer in the valleys, but blizzards in the peaks and passes HAVE FUN!!!
Everything that 2018 Kara & Nate said this van lacked- a fridge, a bed that turns into desk space, and a coffee maker- they now have in their current 2020 van setup. How cool! Goals achieved✅
As you munch on snow while up there, remember the old guideline, "Watch for yellow snow."
It's wonderful to see your elation when encountering deep snow. I grew up in North Carolina, so I know the feeling of awe. Now I live in a Colorado ski town, so snow is a constant companion in the winter. You should do a ski tour of Colorado, learning to ski if you don't already know how. Talk about excellent video opportunities!
Oh my goodness. Nate getting so excited about snow makes me smile. I love the snow, I live on a mountian in Colorado. I go snowboarding every single weekend throughout the winter❤
#earlysquad yet another awesome vlog, Canada looks AMAZING!! And that snow 😯! Editing is fantastic (as usual) keep it up you guys!!
As someone who grew up in sunny Australia these cold snowy videos look so magical to me!!!
The highway over rogers pass follows the original rail line. Due to bad avalanches in the early 20th century, the connaught tunnel was constructed so that the Canadian Pacific railway could bypass the summit. In the 1980's, a second tunnel was completed, the mount macdonald tunnel, which is currently the longest railway tunnel in North America. Further east, on the BC side of the rockies are the spiral tunnels, completed in 1909 to reduce the gradient. This route was chosen because it was shorter, but, in the long run, proved to be costly to operate due to the mountainous terrain.

Where I’m from there’s always snow like that so it makes me laugh at how amazed they are but so happy you guys can experience this. Plus lol when Nate eats the snow!!
I find it so cute how excited you guys are about the snow. That is just a “light dusting “ in Canadian standards. This past winter we were literally buried in 3 ft of snow. Enjoy my beautiful country!❤️🇨🇦 ❤️🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦

Those mountains were amazingly gorgeous🏔 The drone footage was awesome!! Glad your van has a heater cause it looked chilly 🥶!! Hope y’all are enjoying the warm Mexico weather and delish tacos 🌮 right now!! Stay you😘
I lived in Calgary for 11 years and my parents in Kelowna so I've done that drive close to a hundred times summer and winter. I got so used to the scenery that you forget how beautiful it is until you see someone else see it for the first time. Also I was giggling at your amazement of the snow, my first reaction was it's VERY brown and there's hardly any snow. Love it that you guys were so happy about it :)
Love seeing you guys hypothesize about "your van" and knowing you have a van and what it's like :)
