We traveled to Cuba from Mexico, so as Americans we were a little nervous to transfer from Cuba back through the U.S. in case we were questioned why. We flew from Havana to Miami, FL, grabbed a quick bite at the AMEX Centurion Lounge, then flew to St. Martin Island in the Caribbean. When we arrived at our AirBnb, it wasn't what we expected...

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this KZread channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Dude, you were *not* being a diva. You were misled about the accommodations, and you needed something else. It's that simple. You had every right to ask for it to be canceled. Don't feel bad because you may have inconvenienced someone, when they clearly didn't care that they were inconveniencing you.

Kara and Nate, this may be a good time to ask again for a nice airbnb Q and A episode. I'd love to hear your tips on how to book the good ones, and maybe some stories about your best and worst experiences. I am an airbnb host, and I hope this episode hasn't put my fellow viewers off on airbnb. Most of us hosts try really hard to create a good experience for you. Two tips for new airbnb users: read the listing description completely and read all the reviews! Sorry you got a bum one this time, Kara and Nate!

Bindiya J I’ve tried to use Airbnb 2 times and it did not workout for me. Unfortunately I had two bad hosts back to back so I’m never using the service again. The reason I prefer K&N over any other travel vlogger that I have come across is the transparency they had promised to show in the beginning of the journey and still continue to do so, instead of painting a pretty picture. There are always situations like this IRL and am so glad that they took a brave face through it, the reason why they are so relatable. Maybe they didn't record the everything, maybe they control their reactions for the camera, but in the end they showed it and that's why I love them and follow them ♥️🙌

I had this happen once in an AirBnb in Spain. They checked us into a room that wasn't ours, slow-rolled responses, and when I left they communicated hours later, told us we should go to another place, but I'd already checked into a hotel by then. I protested, but AirBnb didn't back me. Had it happen a second time, but involved AirBnb at the outset of it feeling hinky. They backed me in that case.

After having my 2nd cancer surgery in 2021 (ovarian cancer) and with the pandemic, I haven't traveled since 2019 and 2013 for international travel. We'll I'm heading to Las Vegas and staying in an air bnb 5 minutes from the strip in a house dirt cheap but very nice. I told the lady with the air bnb , wonderful you have a coffee maker. My motto have coffee will travel. The air bnb host said. Coffee is Life. Amen to that! Have happy, Safe travels.🤗🛫✈️

Never mind the AIRBNB drama...this video was that I’m not crazy with the rechecking/not rechecking bags on connecting international flights! We had to be escorted back through security? Customs? Some scary people in uniforms...over rechecking drama. Thank you for posting your travel hiccups.

Another awesome vid, thank you so much. I just love how kind and cooperative you both are with each other and the people you encounter. You had a totally legit reason for leaving that AirBNB. Happy Valentine's Day to you both !

We went to St Maarten about 10 years ago, and the people were so friendly there. We absolutely loved it. Also, 2 natives helped save my daughters' lives due to a near-drowning. My older daughter has stayed in touch with someone from there. The island was absolutely devastated by a hurricane a few years ago, and the hotel we stayed in still isn't finished (it had to be completely rebuilt). We still hope to return someday. It really is a special place.

I'm going to st maarten in December for the first time... Out of curiosity I looked for some travel vlogs and came across yours! So glad i did. I normally don't watch travel vloggers because its hard to distinguish between people who can travel because their PARENTS have money, or if they're true nomads like yourself who earn money while on the road, without trying to SELL something! Ill be scrolling through facebook and see advertisements from young nomads like yourself with a very vague message about quitting your job and being able to work wherever. You guys are just like "hey this is what we wanna do, here are our adventures"

No worries you guys! It's YOUR money, and you choose how to spend it. We understand you guys need some R&R, and a good place to work - and that means something specific. Best to go where you'll be comfortable.

It's smart to talk with the hosts for sure! We didn't include this part to scare anyone. Like we said in the video, we practically live in AirBnBs, and after 3+ years this is the first time we've had to cancel after showing up. And even though it wasn't ideal, AirBnb handled the situation so well, and in the end it all got sorted out no problem!

@@KaraandNate you didn't scare us. I know it is so rare, but I am a bit concern and that's why I text the host a day before and the same day to remind the host. I hope this never happens to you again

Always cancel through Airbnb customer service the second you get push back or a request for off Airbnb contact from the landlord. They take care of it instantly. My bestie works Airbnb customer service and they are AMAZING. I check all my listings with her before I book 😆
