Now all tht was over my head. I just use android for simplicity . Can't remember last time I had a laptop. Differant requirements I know. Hope you get better luck with it !) Thanks for sharing.

The word Aerial was once widely used in th US, my Grandfather always said aerial in place of antenna.
Ola Graham . Interesting video. I myself just use my phone as a hotspot in the van and it appears that it works just fine withour any further equipment needed. I can link the wifi to my android stereo and my laptop in the van and no problems getting internet. My reason for doing so was finances. The Eon stereo head unit in my van has LTE capability and came with twin phone ariels and fitment for a phone sim and works brilliantly with the sim from my phone inserted. However, its not convenient to remove the sim from the unit to put into the phone when I want to use it and vice versa and my finances wont allow me to fund two sims so I just run all from the phone. I'm a virgin media customer and also an O2 customer and when their volt offer came out, they sent me a virgin sim with 10 gigs data which I put into the sim holder of the head unit. It was a pita to set up and I had to google for the settings so the Eon Q30 pro head unit would work. It kind of did but connection speed was bad and even on my little mimo unit it was the same and since I only have one phone that's single sim the virgin sim was useless so I sent it back. Hope you get the system fixed in the van soon. It may well be the ariel thats at fault for the low connection speed. IIRC Gadget john and Mel from Mel's big van world use quite big external ariels and do really good. Bessy regs-Kenny

Hi Kenny, we already have a small unit for Maximus. That is on an unlimited data contract so he can connect all his devices. The sim from that will be in the Van system once complete. We will also have cameras in the van that will notify us of movement. This will just be part of our security system. We don't really bother about phones and just get the cheapest contract as invariably we will be near the unlimited dongle. Your setup will be perfect for you out and about. Thanks as always G :-)

@@traveling-taylors obviously, for a remote camera system, your setup is ideal. TBH, i'd not thought of fitting security cams on Viv-i-van but now you made me seriously consider doing so. Looking forward to the rest of the build. Bessy regs-Kenny
