VAN LIFE IN EUROPE TRAPPED IN A HEATWAVE. (Western France)
This week we are still exploring the west coast of France in our camper van. As we head off of the Island of Il D'Oleron (not before one final very unique adventure) and begin heading North, it doesn't get any cooler! We catch up with some friends @GadgetJohn and @unadventurousmandy
before finding a giant serpent in the sea but, most importantly, we are just trying to keep cool living in a van! This involves a fair bit of "wild swimming" which is lucky, as france has some of the best wild camping spots of any country we have ever been too! France really is one of the best countries in Europe to van life, you can travel as free as you like!

He is a good boy, kind of, he was a rescue and we got him at 9months so there were a fair few bad habits to combat at first but he is a good boy
About time you gals had some hot weather without drenching downpours - glad ya made it through the heatwave. It was wonderful to see Joanie too, she's such a hoot! Best of the weather and pitches to you all. See ya next week!

You two are bloody fantastic. Having watched the behind the scene’s vid last week I much more appreciate what is involved in my Sunday entertainment, and it is entertaining. That cycle that you hired to travel to the lighthouse made me cough laughing, and Emily in the sea just about saw me off. I think that parkup next to the river and the film night was spectacular. Way too hot for travelling in a van. We were enroute to Venice, but with a dog and temps hitting 32⁰c it would have been foolish. Change of plan from Austria and looking at a heat map decided the coolest place was the French Alps. So, hiding under Mont Blanc. Still very hot but seeing the snow and ice helps. If all else fails we'll get a chairlift up to the glacier... Stay cool people..
The driver side seat belt has become another character on your channel. I can’t explain why I get such a kick out of the grief it regularly visits on Louise, but there it is.
'Will I fit down there' haha this terrifies us all the time, getting stuck half way down a one way street in Italy and having to reverse with a pile-up behind will forever haunt me... Great vlog as usual guys! And that swimming hat is just perfect for you Lou 😂

Loved the outdoor projector- reminds me of Drive-In’s back in the day. Ahhh the old plastic bottle and shower head trick - my life saver camping in my SUV. Used my solar shower for full body wash and then the bottles for my hair. Also great for rinsing out plates, sand of feet etc. other thing you can use too is the pressurised fertiliser big bottles - sounds odd but you can find a number of YT videos on using these for showering too… so many different ways… Glad to hear AJ is doing better. Take care in that heatwave - enjoyed seeing your Mum too.

Girls - wrong video I know but touring Norway and Sweden and just wanted to thank you for the “Willys “ supermarket tip you gave last year
We hang the dog bags off our towball until we can find a suitable bin. If we're in the car we use the back window wiper (but not if it's likely to rain as we don't want brown stained windows). That swimming lake looked like Jugon les Lacs where our dog Shep decided to roll in/on a dead fish on our second day in France. In spite of dragging him in the lake, hosing him off, pushing him in the shower, using fox poo shampoo and rubbing his back with lavender bushes he was still stinking 10 days later when we got home.
I’m with you Louise, I swim in a hat too, I can’t stand the heat on my head, though I have to admit I don’t have straps on my hat!
Another fab video ladies, you talking about plastic bottles on the dash for warm water, I suppose you already know the glove box thing on the top of the dash on passenger side chills products when your air con is on so Em has storage to close and prevents chocolate melt Ng or plastic bottles of chilled water. Em you will need to refill chocolate once eaten, it is not magically linked to your snack cupboard 😂

Loved the video. You almost made that bike ‘torture’ look like fun 😉. There’s nothing better than feeding tiny sparrows from your hand. Years ago when London sparrows were in flocks of 50+ I fed loads of them on the bridge in St James’ Park and I never forgot the feeling of awe having this tiny creature trust me. Always look forward to your vlogs each Sunday and this was a cracker 👍🏻💕

well , learnt two new expressions "man eyes" and "coffee wench". loving the vids , we love France, there always seems to be something new to find and explore, will check out the island you went to on one of our visits, maybe next year. always fancied Corsica as well.
You need to add some fold out solar panels to your kit that you can place out in the sun when you park in the shade👍🏻

We've stayed on that municipal campsite in St Denis a few times. The beach is like the Caribbean! In the summer they have a great daily market in the village square.

guys. our dog (who we saved in spain) had arthritis when he got older. we moved from spain to dubai and it got worse. we then came back to the UK and it mostly cleared up. it seems cool climates are better for the dogs. the opposite for us humans.
It's over 100° here in Texas .... had a bad storm on the farm last week and have no electric until Friday. Had to head to our home in Ft Worth to hook up the rv and get some air! Spent a couple very hot summers in Cannes a few years ago. It was good to be home to visit family but the next time we visited we went in the fall lol!! Thank you for sharing ! Enjoy and stay cool! I absolutely love l’Île d’Oléron …….but, Saint Palais sur Mer just outside Royan is sooooo very nice, too. It is great to see you travelling about such a lovely area …..I had to cancel my trip to France last month because my dog was quite sick, and you are both making me feel very nostalgic. He is on the mend now, so - look out, France, I’ll be there in September! Woo-hoo!

Love the channel girls and getting better all the time, we are just back from very nearly the same route and like you guys we intended to go much further south but it was just to hot, also didn't to that much wild camping because with the discount card the campsites are so cheap €9.50 P/N in one case...
