Sorry about your experience in Forks, there are a lot of nice folks that live there. You should have came out further west to Neah Bay or Clallam Bay. Neah Bay is the most western tip of the continental United States. But it’s still nice you drove out our way. 😁

Sounds like that white van may have been up to no good. You did the right thing. STAY SAFE ALWAYS

Weird thing a friend of mine and her husband had a similar experience in that area. She said the guys were racist and looking for trouble. Sad but we still have racism in certain areas of the country. You did right by leaving and I'm so glad that you have protection!! Love y'all ❤☮️

Yes unfortunately some people around the rural areas of Washington are racist. There was a family from Eastern Washington that went camping in the Forks area, and they were terrorized by a group of conspiracy theory racists that they thought they were antifa. Which is absolutely ridiculous. Anyway that family just wanted to camp near the ocean, and it was ruined for them by those idiots. Sorry that happened Mateo.

I agree! Mateo, you have to be careful traveling as a black man in this country, there are still sundown towns in certain areas. Not everyone is friendly to black people, please be aware of your surroundings🙏🤜!!!!!

Glad you went with your instincts and left. Seems like those guys wanted smoke. When you waved or when they slowed down multiple times, that was their chance to at least roll down the window and speak… but they didn’t. I also VanLife travel and had a similar situation like that happened to me in Oklahoma. 2 vehicles (3 passengers each) rolled up on me asking what I was doing there. I was solo and could tell they wanted problems. I had my concealed weapon on me but thank God I didn’t have to use it. They ended up leaving but I thought they might come back once it hit dark, so I took off and found another camp location instead. You have to be extremely careful when solo traveling/camping because even when you’re not looking for trouble… trouble might still come to find you. Glad you and Lars are safe.

Definitely. and the thing is its on ioverlander and plenty of people have used that site recently so that was a bummer.

Thank you for being honest and showing the true story of van life while you are Black. You never said the race of those men, but it was not hard to figure out. People need to understand that van life can be different for us. It is a little harder for a Black man. Stay safe! 💕

I just had a lucid dream, I was dozing off listening to you saying you were driving into forks I could hear you I was almost asleep but i could vision these strange people that were staring at you but they standing at the roadside as if waiting on your arrival. One man looking so spooky the way he was watching you and that just snapped me out of it. It’s not often i lucid dream. The thoughts of those men in the van is very peculiar how they were acting had me thinking all sorts. I’m glad you moved from there

The first look at the trees took my heart back to my youth. I grew up in the pacific north west. Born 2/2/1948 that makes me 76 in a couple of weeks. How my life has Flownby. I love watching you live yours. Stay true to yourself and to Lars. I left Washington about 10 years ago. Living in the South is a very real experience. Started in Mississippi. Moved to Louisiana. The summers here are Brutal. Find joy wherever you are is my life mantra.

I tried to use your van's reflection to see what you saw but no bueno. It was good you listened to your inner voice. Mateo, you did the right thing by leaving that area. You have to be careful when in foreign areas because depending where you are at, you may stand out. Protect yourself and Lars first and foremost.

Agreed! You can run a heavier weight oil like a 10-40 for older vehicles. Also the product "SeaFoam" (any auto store usually carries it) is AHMAYZING for older vehicles to run more smoothly. Add half a can in your oil. Worth its weight in gold to extend the life of your motor. 🖤

Please be Super Extra careful in the woods, when you're alone people like to mess with you. You made the right decision by leaving and the spot you picked was out in the open and I could see other vehicles and lodgings which is far better. Things sometimes go wrong when you are alone and isolated. Please be careful.

Creeps out there be careful. Good that you have protection and you used precaution and left.

Cozy intro. it was like an invitation to visit and Lars is the sweetest! Also,very glad you trusted your instinct. I noticed Lars's also had reaction as you were looking towards the truck. When Lars jumped from the front seats to the back your van, it was very similar to when my cats respond to the coyotes (here in LA ) that are roaming the streets at night. I've read some crazy articles about Forks. Hope you are enjoying yourselves and that all that wacky energy is no longer hovering.

I question why people have to be the way they are sometimes, good on you for going with your instincts and getting out of there - sucks they had to ruin your experience. I love watching you cook! I follow quite a few nomads and I really can't think of anyone else who does full on cooking the way you do. Everything you make always looks so delicious and it's a great way to showcase that you can still make really good meals with not a lot of equipment. Stay safe!

Crossed that green bridge many times going to visit my grandfather who had a dairy farm up in the Washington hills. You keep taking me on memory journeys.❤ Edited to add: These days the Idahoan instant potatoes are the only ones I make. So many excellent flavors.

I use the block curry alot. I keep it on deck. I like to add coconut milk and chicken or veggie broth too to my curry. Because it has alot if sodium, l usually only use 2-3 blocks per dish. It looked yummy Mateo. I'm glad you used your instincts and left the area.

I finished my parks cooking series and you are starting yours. Cold potatoes are a bummer. You can boil the water for the potatoes, then pour it into a thermos. Then mix the potatoes when you are ready to serve. Works very well. The dish looked good though. I’m sure it was yummy too. Better safe then sorry. Avoid people with questionable behavior.

You can use ziplock bags instead of bowls for the bread crumbs. And the egg too actually 🤷🏻‍♀️ I love how you have shown “use what you have” to make cooking work. Like the chicken and ramen seasoning sandwich 👍👍👏😊. But of course I love the planned meals like the tacos 😋. And the range is nice, from extreme gourmet to extreme simple!
