VAN HALEN TIME!! 1959 LES PAUL JUNIOR 01318

www.frettedamericana.com/produ...
A Very Pretty "Beastie".
This super light guitar weighs just 6.70 lbs. and has a nice, fat nut width of 1 11/16 inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. This is one of the early versions, with a solid mahogany "slab" body with slightly rounded edges, one-piece mahogany neck with that great '59 "baseball bat" style profile, and Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 22 frets and inlaid pearl dot position markers. Headstock with "Gibson" logo and "Les Paul TV Model" silk-screened in gold. Black plastic bell-shaped truss-rod cover. Closed-back single-line Kluson Deluxe strip tuners with white plastic oval buttons. Serial number "9 7836" inked-on in black on the back of the headstock. One super hot black P-90 pickup with a huge output of 8.27k. Black plastic pickup cover stamped on the underside "UC-450-1 / 2". Single-ply tortoiseshell pickguard with four screws. Two controls (one volume, one tone) on the lower treble bout. Black plastic bell-shaped "Bell" knobs. The potentiometers are stamped "134 841" (Centralab October 1959) and the capacitor is the requisite 'Bumble-Bee' type. Combination "wrap-over" bar bridge/stud tailpiece. The back of the black plastic control cover is engraved "Jeannie" and the the inside of the control cover is engraved "Jeannie / Elfgen 1959". There are a few tiny surface marks and indentations on the body of the guitar and a few very small and insignificant surface marks edges of the headstock. Otherwise this is quite simply the finest example of a '59 TV Junior (with a neck to die for) that we have ever seen and therefore our rating of near mint (9.25) condition is fairly conservative. The sound of this little beastie is also quite simply "the bestest"! Housed in the original Gibson brown 'Aligator' softshell case with brown felt lining (9.25).

So great! The last real Rocker...Phil X. If he was born in the 90's he'd have led a grunge band to household name status. 70's? He'd have been in his element in Rocks' heyday in any number of Led Zep type band. The 60's, he'd have been rocking at Woodstock, no doubt! 80's? Maybe he'd have been in the first line-up of Bon Jovi...🤷‍♂️ ...But his time came in the 2010-20's...when Utube is the last venue for the dying breed of Rockers.

Hey Phil & all the guys at Frettedamericana - I love that guitar!! I think my favourite old Les Paul of all time would be a 56 Les Paul Junior in Sunburst. I got to play (only for a minute!) Richie Samboras one - its always the one that I think gets him his best tones. Anyway - can't wait to see you all in the UK sometime this year! Cheers, Lee.

This guy is a bit hyper naturally it seems, but I still enjoy watching his videos because it reminds me of why I started playing guitar when I was 12, and still playing at 60. Playing is so much fun and this guy obviously plays because of how much he enjoys everything about playing guitar. I love what he says about "it's in the hands." All the killer sounds he's getting with just the guitar and amp. Great singer as well and a walking encyclopedia of licks and tunes.

Had a '61 for a short time. Cherry red and a p90 that was so vocal it would pick up the phone and order pizza for you. Sold it at the 94 Nashville show for WAY too little. Wish I still had it. Didn't see the benefit of a solo pickup guitar back then. Regrets,,.....

Love "Feelings" great version. And i think your right on the money about the tone and sound being in the hands. I went through an extremely short period of time when i thought the more expensive gear would make me. NOPE! Nothing and i mean NOTHING! Beats practice practice practice. Nice junior. Great vid. 🎸🎶

Imagine assuming that having an awesome vintage guitar to mess around with equates to being on speed. From someone who tried speed once or twice a decade ago, this isn't what someone who did speed acts like 😂😂

Or they should be educated? Maybe they are just starting out? Imagine if you wanted to learn something and every question which you wanted to ask, because you were new was greeted with derision (google that, smart arse).

@@jameshansing5396 I mean, even when I didn't know anything about guitars, I _kind of_ knew the difference between a Les Paul and a Strat. The two guitars look pretty much nothing alike.
