Michael is the one guy I feel for the most. He is such a nice and humble guy, who was with the band since practically the beginning, and stayed faithful to them. Until they just through him to the curb, without even calling him personally. I think he would have been the first to shake Wolfie's hand and tell him "good luck". He knew that Eddie really wanted to play with his son, and there isn't anything wrong with that, but he could have done it a better way.

“I’m humbled,” are the words that say it all. Sammy is the good hearted prince in Van Halen. Along with Mikey they are the pure positive force in Van Halen. These two musicians were at the heart of VH songs that I felt transcended music, and became spiritual. As hard as Eddie tried to bury those songs to deny credit to Sammy and Mike, future generations will discover and be inspired by them. You’ve gotta have heart first. Music will follow.

Sammy implies that Eddie was in rehab. In most interviews I saw of Eddie, he seemed to be uncomfortable and edgy. When you read how much he was self medicating throughout his career it makes sense. When he was 60 he did an interview/presentation for Smithsonian which is totally worth watching. You could tell he had changed a lot. He was gracious, giving and seemed at ease...and in a sober way. He seemed genuinely happy and a man who understood himself.

It is great that you made a reference to the Smithsonian interview/presentation that EVH did . I saw it several years ago via KZread and have watched it a bunch of times since then. I found EVH to be surprisingly articulate, moving , interesting and informative about a variety of subjects. I thought that his comments about what it meant to him to have been a dirt poor first generation immigrant were particularly insightful. I've recommended the presentation/ interview to many people many times especially in the previous week since Eddie died . EVH ,like any genius in any field was super- smart even though he had " only" a high school formal education. I believe he took a few college courses but stopped in order to pursue a fulltime career in music. Thank God he made that decision, although given what I know about his work ethic I believe he would've been successful in whatever career path he chose. He was destined to be a professional virtuoso rock musician and the world is a happier place because of the music and joy he created.

Paul didn't show up for the Beatles induction, leaving George and Ringo to stumble through an embarrassing night. Mark Knopffler, Peter Cetera, Axl Rose..... so many main guys from legendary rock bands refused or couldn't show up for their hall of fame induction for whatever reasons and it's petty. Sad. Pathetic. When Metallica was inducted, not only did Lars and James insist both Jason Newsted and Robert Trujillo be included but they brought Cliff Burton's parents and presented them with Cliff's HOF Figure. That was one of the classiest things I'd ever seen in my life. They even spoke about putting all the crap behind them for one night to come together for the event because it's so special and unique. If Metallica can show that much class, all the other guys could have. Alex, EVH and DLR too. It's for one night. 4 hours of your life. Get your ass out of your house, put your big boy pants on, and go give your bandmates and former bandmates a hug for helping you become a world famous millionaire and go play a song or two with them. Then run back to the limo and take the next flight back home. Plain and simple.

I know for a fact that Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar are very good people... Sammy was in the band too - So he deserved to be there. Whatever Eddie was going through at the time was his business! He or they could have simply said; " We're very sorry that the Van Halen Brothers couldn't be with us tonight...!" DONE! BECAUSE it implied that he was in rehab. And, even by then he might have had a little bout of cancer? JUST because people are entertainers doesn't mean that they are not allowed their privacy in some way shape or form! And I'm damn sure that if the brothers could have been there they would have been. AND - from everything that I've seen and read and all the interviews on KZread - Alex would NEVER have gone without his brother! I'm sure it was not intentional! But the bottom line was it came off the way it came off and I'm not saying that's what made Ed mad at Mike at all! They might have had another grievance we don't know about? RIP LEGEND 🙏 💖☮️🛐✨⚡✨⚡✨⚡🤔

Eddie's ego got in the way of DLR leaving the band. For Christ's sake, he wanted to kick his own brother out of the band!!! Fantastic guitarist...He could do his side projects but no other member of the band was allowed to... The Van Halen I knew ended when DLR left...

They put out a few good songs with Sammy, that should always be included with their greatest, but I agree DLR will always be the lead singer for VH.

The Van Halen brothers were delusional when Dave departed the group. Checkout the video of Dave telling his side of the story. You can see it in his eyes, and hear it in his words...He was hurt and felt betrayed. His departure was a mutual decision. He and Ed shared tears, hugs, the whole thing. Next thing he hears are words of attack from the VH bros blasting him and saying they kicked him out. Fast Forward a few years, and Hagar gets the same treatment. Talented, yes. Delusional & vicious? INDEED.

The life of a touring recording artist is hard. Tensions are in every relationship. 'Occupational hazards' are at every stop and CAN undermine the harmony of relationships. VH needed a reset. Sammy was a great add on in the mid 80's. The VH catalogue
