This is the best I've heard Eddie since 1995! One of the true masters of guitar is back!

In 2004 I was 16 and saw Van Hagar with my step dad. It was my first introduction ever to EVH and I was blown away. Then I saw them in 07 and it was night and day! Stoked to take my Lil bro to see them this year.

Damn. Sad day today. Eddie has passed. I saw this 8 years ago. I’m so glad being a younger that I got a chance to see him.

I caught the band opening for Tin Lizzie at the Beacon Theater before I'd even heard of them and I will tell you that it was obvious that this teenage guitar player had caught fire in his hands and we got to share it for an hour. You really got me brought the house down. Only Tin Lizzie, the grizzled veterans of a journey through every bar-stop the world over, could have followed Van Halen,their openers, with such dignity and aplomb.

Ed's fingers are flying and is still a Guitar God. Sit back and just watch the genius that he is and what he has been doing since the 70's!! (btw, his guitar tone is so much better now then from last tour with Dave)

EVH is the greatest rock guitarist that ever lived. Of all time. He's fucking back! The King. All praise him. All mighty god EVH! :)

@PatVanHalen5150 This is the best he has played since I saw him in August of 1986. That hand surgery WORKED! I saw him in New Orleans in 2007 and he could barely play. This video is proof that the surgery was successful and that Ed has worked his ass off to play at this level. Way better than he has played since 1986...

@IansUToob57 I think the playing sounds clearer here than the live without a net stuff. The ebony fretboard for sure sounds different, but it just sounds like his amp has alot more raw power and headroom. Notes are just clearer than that video.

@SpartanPict But the Franky never had a "hockey stick headstock". Its better known for the Strat style, and/or the Kramer "Birdsbeak", a la the one in the "Jump" video. However, the "5150" has a "hockey stick headstock". I have built both of these, along with the "Bumblebee".

Yes, it's the same solo almost. But at this point in the man's life as an artist and mine as a fan/student/wannabe of his, to not play what he's known for would be insulting. I've been trying to cop this for 30 years and it amazes me that he sounds better and better and still has the strength and dexterity to play this still. A Different Kind of Truth is a kickass comeback album my friend. Don't get me wrong, i dig 5150, OU812 and especially F.U.C.K.. Balance not so much. I like Sammy's voice as well but for me, =VH= is with Roth no matter how bad his outfit is today and how bad his voice is sometimes, nowadays. I also wished Michael was with the band but hey, with Edward's moods all we can do is be happy with all we've got right now. And yes, The King is back!!

@MCELVH Sammy and MIke are making GREAT Chickenfoot records. Don't hate bro....its not a one or the other band for me ....there missin Mike on some of that harmony and Sammy still has full range when it comes to his voice, unlike Diamond Dave. Not sayin I don't think they got a great record out, but can't knock what the Chickenfoot is puttin out. Happy for everyone involved.

@canuck2558 when you abuse drugs for about 30 years you're not going to be able to be jumping around and having fun like they did back in the 80's. The VH Brothers look pretty good, and looks like they both have quit smoking, but most importantly they're having fun man, that's what it's about.
