This is super awesome commercial. It's really special, it's not because of the stunt, it's because there is a delicated and exotic contrast between powerful man and machine, and the gentle music. Super. I really like it.

This is the most stupendous commercial of all time. I’ve watched it dozens of times and it never fails to amaze me. Jean Claude and 2 truck drivers all moving flawlessly, joined together by a single nerve. Enya is the smooth finish that makes it perfection. 🥰

I have so much respect for this guy, still training at this stage of his career. Now I have equal respect for Volvo engineering ... the faith and trust JCVD places the trucks and their drivers you can see it in his face.

Vovlo engineering sucks. These trucks have plastic oil pans and 3 oil filters, all of which are next to impossible to remove. The new Volvos are also automatic which sucks because the transmission runs off of air, run out of air without the truck being in Neutral position and guess what --> you cannot start it and therefore cannot build air pressure!!! Oh, and the air supply uses "Boss" fittings which are notorious for leaking and the ones used on the transmission are proprietary to Volvo. I also bet it would take you 20 minutes to figure out how to open the hood on a new Volvo too... or even the driver's door. These trucks are epic junk. I hate them. The commercial was well made though.

***** i guess that's why they said Volvo engineering and not Volvo design lol. And it's an ad about their dynamic steering system … which clearly works well. I guess you could write a page about them if it was about Volvo oil pans and filters and transmission.

No matter what some say, that was awesome!! And such beautiful trucks.

He was tied up by a crane that was moving at the same speed as the trucks, if he slipped or if the truck got to farr he wouldn't hit the ground. Like bunje jumping, and the ropes where removed frame by frame in editing.

I find myself drawn back to this page often, if for no other reason than to remind my 55 year old version of my past self and to see a man that I had respect for as a fighter, but his early days ego took the Chi that make all of us who studied martial arts fo4 nearly our whole life true Martial Artists. This commercial shows a new man, not the ego driven fighter he was, but he true martial artist that he is. I was 17 when I earned my first black belt in Hap Kido, 48, when I physically fought threw the aging process to finally, after 10 years of In and out training.. Tested and passed to receive the honor of joining the club again. To end this#, at 53 I became ill and the use of my legs for two years, I was devastated that my life’s love of performing my martial arts was over....that was until I stumbled onto this commercial and saw a man with no ego, disciplined and humble perform the most beautiful epically performed slits I have ever seen with no fear of failure. If this fighter could Chi to overcome his ego at our age, I could condition myself to do a 6 ft. Flying tornado kick again. I’m not there yet actually I could take out a toddler now but because of this Martial Artist, Master Van Damm, I’m not in a wheelchair looking at my past, I have a future again. Well don Mr. Van Damm - and bowing Thank You.

Well I believe they were showing that the dynamic steering system was also capable of keeping the rear aligned with the front much easier than other trucks can. I may be wrong but that seems like part of what they were aiming toward showing to the audience.

the driver is impressive but its not that hard for the driver because by doing it slowly it can possible to make straight, but the stunt is not easy because you have to carry on with the truck while making the split, not just to split but the two truck open at both side that will make him to split while moving..

This is really amazing!! Jean Claude Van Damme is a Pro at spits and he is amazing and very talented.

Notice that while the little model trucks are both articulated semis with trailers, only the truck on the right is really a full tractor-trailer rig. That truck follows the right side line on the road perfectly straight back and does not move to the side. The truck on the left is just a container connected to the tractor only from a semi, dressed up to look like a full rig from an angle hidden by the other truck. The truck on the left moves from the near line to the outer left line. They must have used targets on the mirrors to track with the lines. Amazing precision, but you can see how they also used a bit of optical trick with the trucks as well.

... yes, things would get funky very quickly if the semi would attempt to steer away :), only straight truck moves away. Either way, kudos to Van Damme!
