Fun fact - JCVD was actually approached to be a character in the original mortal kombat movie, but declined...so they created Johnny Cage instead, modeled after van Damme and his bloodsport character.
Watching all these fighting movies when i was a child motivated me to do karate myself. I finished it with a black belt. That was a long time ago but i always have a fighter spirit in me. I always hope i dont get ever in a fight. 😅

It's also the faces Bruce Lee used to make. JCVD stops making those after a few films, but they became such a cultural phenomenon with Lee. This movie and Kickboxer are the main reason why I started doing martial arts. It had a huge influence on me. Around that time there were a lot of martial arts movies coming out, which was really cool. Ofcourse not all of them were good, but what a great era to grow up in!

And let me guess. All of those movies involved white guys learning to do martial arts better than the Asians who invented and practiced them for centuries. Now where have we seen this before? Oh yeah, that's basically the script of every martial arts movie made in Hollywood.
@KiLLaB070

@@Skyknight12 Good guess, but you're wrong lol. I don't judge people by their nationality or skin color. Like Bruce Lee said (who isn't white): Under the sky there is but one family, it's just so that people are different. I train with all sorts of different people from different cultures and we get along real good. Maybe you should try to look at what we have in common as people instead of what the differences are. Have a good one.
@Skyknight12

@@KiLLaB070 Funny that you should bring up Bruce Lee. Did you know that Bruce Lee, a literal Chinese martial arts expert, lost the role of a Shaolin monk to David Carradine - a white guy who at that time had no knowledge of martial arts? And don't get me started on Iron Fist. This basically is how Hollywood treats Asians and always has. I didn't say that you judge people by their race but the films that you speak so glowingly about that the people who wrote them and made money off of them do just that. So much for that one family under the sky, eh?
@gonzalo20000

@@Skyknight12 And who the fuck cares? It is not as if those Asians are invincible with their martial arts, the fact is that oriental martial arts have been highly overrated by Hollywood, making them very "cool" when in real life it is not so, and it is not that effective against western or MMA boxers. You also seem like the typical Woke with all his hatred towards "white". You are that typical toxic person of internet, who only seeks hate and fight.

The movie is called Bloodsport and no one was disqualified for the death of a fighter earlier in the movie. Pretty safe to say the ref is just for show. He starts the fights, checks for a fighter's pulse and declares the winner.

Same applies to me Jean Claude van damme is my favorite
It made me feel like i'm watching "Fist of the North Star"
I never liked Bolo yeung as a kid. But today, i see him as a Legend in the world of Krate/kick-boxing movies
This movie is an exceptional example of the Hero’s Journey. Something all young men should watch.

When I was young, I was admiring such scenes. But know, when I learned a bit about martial arts, those scenes only make me laugh :P No professional would want to fight like that ;)

Its a movie. Most of fighters use defensive techniques throughout the entire fight thus making the fights boring.

No professional would ever fight the way they would fight in any movie that features fighting except for maybe the movie Warrior and even then.....

@Matthew Calimbas actually I've seen people in real life fight same as in these movies.I saw a martial arts expert do some of these moves in film in real life.so it definitely works and happens

Can Damme, always up to par when it comes to boxing.
Его крик до сих пор такой сильный дух придает!!!
These Van Damme fight scenes that I watched when I was a kid are great, watching them now u realize just how cheesy they are lol.
The soundtrack is very very nice. One of my favourite films of all times. The music arrangement is amazing. ❤️❤️❤️
