Van Compass 6.5 Suspension Upgrade - 2021 Revel

First thoughts and details on new Van Compass 6.5 suspension upgrade for my 2021 Revel built on Mercedes Sprinter chassis. New system uses Falcon aDAPT shocks and uses a Bluetooth app to calibrate and configure the system.

    I went with the Agile RIP kit on my 2016/144/4x4 Sprinter and am happy with it. I also consider the Van Compass, which I know is also good quality. By the way Owl vans in San Diego/LA area has a great exhaust system swap-out product that looks very good.

    Thanks Neil, really appreciate your well done explanations there. I just ordered the 6.3, but will revise it thanks to your video. Also appreciate your point about this being their likely first install. I’m using high country performance in Denver, and will make sure they get it before the installation. Super thankful for your post.

    @@tomndeena Yeah, I loaded the van for a pretty regular 2/3 night trip when I weighed it. Full water & gas, me, wife and very large dog, obviously I have a bunch of Owl gear on the back too. Weight came in at 8500lbs with front being 3960lbs and rear being 4580lbs.

    Great video, thanks for the review! VC 6.5 or 4.5 is next on my upgrade list, and I can't wait to move on from the stock suspension. I'm curious to hear how the ride is improved on washboard - that's the main motivation for me for doing the upgrade.

    Thanks, appreciate it! Yeah, I’m curious to try it on washboard too, on the short off-road sections I’ve done so far it is a good improvement and the ability to switch it to soft so easily is great. I haven’t tried the sway bar disconnect yet but I’m hoping that will help with the vicious side rocking too. Good luck with your upgrade!

    Thanks! Yeah some people have relocated the exhaust from the side or changed the running boards etc. so some relocation is definitely possible. I plan to get some real world use to see if I think anything is still too vulnerable for how I use the van.

    Thank you for this detailed guide to this installation Neil and hello from North of the border. It is even harder to purchase a Revel here during these challenging times. I check the Vancompass site after your video and there seems to be no option to purchase the 6.5 (including 5 leaf upgrade) set-up less the lift kit or did I miss that option? I am hoping you will take the time to do a follow up video on this new addition to you rig. In the meantime can I ask you to please do a video on you past modifications/add-on and your rational for your purchase decisions.

    Thanks, appreciate the comment & hoping to be able to travel north of the border soon! Honestly I thought the 4.5 was the same minus the lift, but you’re right in that it lists the 3 leaf spring instead. I would suggest reaching out to VC directly, they are great guys and will be happy to help. Yeah I’ll try to do some more videos soon, it’s nice to know there is interest :)

    @@neillharrison9294 Your are most welcome to explore my beautiful province. I hope the border restrictions will soften soon. As for reaching out to VC.... lol.... first things first, I need to get my hands on a Revel here. As I indicated in the earlier message, I am leaning to the VC 6.5 offering (less the lift kit as I am worried about raising the C of G any more) with Agile rear 5 leaf + front coil set-up (as these are heavy vehicle). I agree with you that the aDAPT Computer Control Module is worth the extra cost since it will react as one driving style and road conditions change. I look forward to your future videos. I much appreciate the detailed and methodical approach you take to you review and rational purchase process discussion.

    Thank you, Neill. So for a while now, none are available with the inside controls or electronic system due to the lack of chips. Would you recommend going to the 6.3 and still having to get out to change the dial manually? There seems to be no ETA of when they will be available again.

    Hi Cheryl, the .3 kits are also great and I see a lot of people very happy with them. I know from experience that I don’t stop, get out, and adjust very often with a manual setup, but you would definitely have that option for off-road or strong winds etc with the .3 It’s a hard call without any ETA. Were Van Compass not able to give any idea?

    IIRC I got a little over 2” on the front and close to 3” on the back. This is with the 2” lift kit though, so the suspension alone does not add too much.

  • @neillharrison9294

    @neillharrison9294

    They do not upgrade it, so it’s stock MB. One of the issues is that after all the interior is installed, the stock suspension sags, esp in the rear. That and the stock suspension just isn’t great for off-road or strong winds, so you see a lot of people looking to upgrade.
