I'm kind of surprised with how much top billing Castlevania of all franchises got in this game, two characters (Counting an echo fighter), a good stage, a shit ton of music, a two stage boss, an absolute metric fuck ton of spirits, an incredibly unique sub map in World of Light, an assist trophy, Alucard himself talking during Richter's guidance, an incredibly useful item in Death's Scythe, etc.

I'll always love the extra step they took with Alucard for the Richter Guidance too--they actually put a tinny reverb filter over Yuri Lowenthal's performance that makes it sound like Symphony of the Night's dialogue.

sakurai said he was a big castlevania fan, also add the fact that the nes game is one of the original action platformers that other action games from ninja gaiden to dmc to even god of war took inspiration from, and co-creator of metroidvania gerne with sotn and a hit anime on netflix, it starts to add up. also it's easily konami's second biggest franchise next to metal gear, easily. kind of hard to ignore that.

It’s one of the most iconic series with characters that were requested a TON during the lead up to ultimate, especially in the ballot. They deserved all this and more. Hoping alucard gets into the next smash!!

The funniest thing happened in the days leading up to his reveal, my brother and I were so hyped for ultimate and what characters they'll be adding. We were talking about what characters they should add, and I said "They should really add Simon Belmont, he would go well with characters like mega man and duck hunt". Days later, Simon and Richter were revealed

I just wish that they could've added Alucard as a playable character alongside Simon & Richter😞

The other day I went to the circus with my family, and then one juggler dude came into stage performing tricks and juggling like a million bowling pines while this song played in the background, I went crazy on how good the music fit in the act.

I hate that Judgement's soundrack go uncredited. The songs are legit good and the wolf was very fun to play.

It's a fighting game. It's a Castlevania fighting game which does add on a layer of awesomeness, but it's still just a fighting game. It's nowhere near an adventure like SotN, AoS, or even the first 3 Castlevanias on NES. It is not often that I am on this side of the conversation, but even I (someone who has defended games like Skyward Sword and DS2-SotFS) couldn't say that it's nowhere near as good as the other Castlevania games. The main problem being that it's purely a fighting game and not an actual adventure. As something that is purely a fighting game, it fundamentally cannot stack up against something like SotN or AoS or even Curse of Darkness. Genuinely, the best part of it's existence is the soundtrack. Also, it really messed up Simon's design. I am really glad that they fixed it in Ultimate.

My Belmonts improvements say that if you don't know how to beat Cloud, Bayonetta and Donkey Kong take a Belmont and you win. Take distance, Trap to the ledge Use well down air Slide twice Side b for kill confirms Neutral B while jumping Holy Water for a Smash Attack Down Smash to cover lots of space Belmonts are really good THEY'RE like Min Min but with projectiles and tactics bettter.
