Valiant Hearts: The Great War is the story of 5 crossed destinies and a broken love in a world torn apart. All of them will try to survive the horror of the trenches following their faithful canine companion. In Valiant Hearts, the lives of all these characters are inextricably drawn together over the course of the game. After all Emile has gone through, he sacrificed so much for friends and strangers. And what makes it worse, he thinks Karl is dead. Such a simple game but shows the hardship of losing one another, the love of each other. I can't imagine this game won't get a award cause I now that it touched thousands even me cause my grandpa was also scarred from WW2, he saw all his friends die and somehow he still lived to the end. Just bearing the memories, must be to heavy. This is why veterans must be recognized for their heroic bravery. This was an eye opener that I wouldn't be where I am without all the men dying from all these wars
This is an eye opening game. This changes my views toward the wars so much, and governments. This is also the first time that I don't want a game to have a sequel. I don't want to see Emile's grandson, Karl, Walt, and Freddie fight in the second great war. It hurt so much, right to the heart~

Something to think about. "Many men that parished at wartime were not known not for their cowardice, but for their valor. They may be forgotten by many, but we will still remember them in our hearts. We did not know them at that time due to the communication being so horrible, but word from the front made us aware of their sacrifice. I fight for that reason." What a powerful ending. It shows that war will never truly end, and many heroes' stories will never be told, but you must always remember them even so.
when the game forced me to hit the officer, I was like ' No! Don't force me into this! Emile will be executed for treason if I hit that heartless officier!' Even so, at the end, I still hoped for miracle to happen to save him. He is a good man.

It just hit me that Emile died not know that Karl was actually in fact still alive! That just makes it all that much more sadder... :(
Dearest Marie, As the war ends for me, I have no regrets, I've seen too much horror. I hope fate has been more merciful to you. Our time on earth is brief, and mine has been filled with so much joy. That I can only be thankful for how much I've been blessed. Most specially, for the wonder you brought into my life. This letter is my last I've been found guilty by a military court for the death of an officer. It was not my intention to kill him. War makes men mad. Though I failed Karl, I know my sacrifices not been in vain. I fought for my country and my liberty, My honor is assured. Since it is the will of god to separate us on earth, I hope we'll meet again in heaven. Keep me in your prayers. Your Loving Papa Always. Even though their bodies have long since returned to dust, Their sacrifice still lives on. We must strive to cherish their memory. And never forget... Valiant Hearts -The Great War-

The tragedy is that their deaths WERE in vein. What cause did they sacrifice themselves for? It's not like the world became closer after the war as many had expected (the war to end all wars). So long as the world continues to be politically fractured, war is inevitable.
For me, the best game that has ever been made. Period. Good job, Ubisoft! I may sound like a fool but i hoped that Emile would be saved or freed at the end. In my heart i wanted a happy ending.... At least it was sunny and a beautiful weather when he died. I just wanted to give him a hug before he died and salute him for he deserves all my respect. It's funny i treat him like a real soldier... Anyway, i will remember this game for years to come and Emile will always be my favourite game character. I salute you Emile! A comrade

The Knuckols hi
The ending is so sad yet it's a perfect meaning for way to end the narrative. I'm a admirer of WW1 and always have been and in 2017 we went off to the Somme (by accident due to some roadworks and a diversion) and we visited some graves both German and Allies- mainly British battles done by her colonies at the time like the South Africans in Delville Wood and Canadian places like Vimy Ridge and Beaumont-Hamel. we also visited the French Eglise Paroissiale de Ginchy as well as Ulster Tower and Thiepval. We also visited a German graveyard called Fricourt- yet it's so deadly quiet and barley anyone goes. I never get why the Germans feel ashamed of the Great War- it wasn't their fault- it was the fault of the archaic establishment built on Napoleonic treaties within a rapidly post-Victorian world. I paid my respects despite being the 'enemy' . Then in 2018, I found our missing relative of ours on remembrance day, who died in the war. LANCE CORPORAL JAMES BLESSINGTON, Service Number: C/6795, he was a member of the King's Royal Rifle Corps 18th Bn. and died on the 31 July 1917 at the age of 19 years old. He was always told about down the generations because his cousin tried to find him when they were informed about his death, but we never knew his first name and sadly he never found him. So in the summer of 2019 we went to him, in ZANTVOORDE BRITISH CEMETERY, in Flanders and paid our respects as well as going around places like Ypres, Passchendaele and Tyne Cot. I was only 19 at the time and I was looking forward to my university life and my 20th birthday- James never had the chance to celebrate his 20th, never mind educate himself for a future he wanted at university or go into the job he wanted to seek. I always wondered what it would be like to be in the trenches and live that life and now I guess I had the closes opportunity to it I possibly can. My last place will I want to visit now will be Sambre-Oise Canal, where Wilfred Owen died (I do an English and drama degree hence why)- but that doesn't mean I will never return. I would love to visit James annually as a family tradition and maybe for the future too, while for now post-covid wise, I think I'll take one of those bus tours that takes about a a month to travel all the areas and maybe then I will expand my eternal fascination about the Great War by visiting more places Thanks to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) he is forever remembered and he will always be the great great grandfather I always wanted to meet. That ending perfectly sums up how we should remember the victims of the war- with respect. We will always love you James.

Do not be mistaken war is organized mass murder. But we have as a species the ability to view things from a third person granting us a glance at progression slowly but surely. When your in the shit, its all meaningless. It has a point at the end of it all leading into the next thing. But that is as a whole a single unit, as individuals you can only see whats happening as it happens. Everything is meaningless, except for what relates to us. Millions of pieces must be sacrificed for the survival of the whole, as the whole progresses it can give up less of it self until it no longer needs to give any more. Until then.

I don't know.. The ending it was just.. Sad, this game made me shed manly tears. I don't think that the game needs a sequel. But if it has, i will get it, just as i got this one. Game Of The Year for me.
The game has some nice touches and a good moral message about the "glory" of war. What really hit me was the achievements. When Karl is saved, "Some will survive" or something like that. When the game credits end, "Some will not."

This was the most different war game I've ever seen. Because, almost all of the war games that I saw was a shoot those enemies like that war games but, this is so different like, this is a masterpiece because they've interpret the whole story of WW1 by not letting the player to kill (I know, there's an episode here that you need to kill an enemy) but, it's not like that so evil, you know what I mean, right?
This is probably one of the best game i've seen this year
I just finished the game and I am speechless. Ubisoft did a great job! Regarding the war, when you think about it is about some men who just want to see the wold burn and send men to kill each other; in the end they get decorated. How ironic! This game shows the real face of war and we should fight to never start a war again!
Such a great game, thank you Rajman for playing such a emotional and great game. Some times a good war game is not one where you just shoot up everything but about protecting the ones your love and making emotional connections. This game is a masterpiece if you ask me. I enjoyed every minute of it!
This was a great game, it had the right set of emotions for a realistic, thoughtful story such as the events of WW1, a terrific tribute to those soldiers who have died to give us life. GOTY nominee.
OM MY Goodness. One of the best games I've ever seen" It made me cry and though it was boring at times and suspenseful on others this game is so well put together!

Seeing his friend take off his hat, the sad expression on his face. War doesn't just wreck havoc on the land, it breaks the hearts of so many people. Emile didn't deserve what he got, but as he said, war makes people mad. A beautiful, sad ending that opens people hearts to the prevention of war. I knew I had to buy this game. And I will play for myself, someday. This game is 10/10 for me. Thank you for the playthrough.

"Life is important because we only get one, there for we must cherish it for as long as it lasts."
-Freddie was on his personal vendetta overcome his grief and becomes a proud soldier - Anna only cared about helping the real víctims of war always proud of her profession - Karl was a soldier that was against his will in all that madness only with the hope to survive and return with his family But from all of them Emile was the only one that saw the true face of war, how nightmarish can be, how can pulls out the worst of everyone, he was everyone in one the soldier, the helper and the family man but like he said "War makes men mad"

One of the most amazing featuers of this game is it's abillity to make you (the viewer) feel as if you are a part of it. I tapped my leg uncontrolably in some points from stress and tears were packing up and ready to leave in many parts of this game. Another thing that made me even MORE sad is that in some point i wasn't even paying attantion to the background (which 70% of the time was filled with bodies of bleeding soliders). I was numb to it. It gave me goosebumps every time they ran into battle. WW2 got a big spotlight and took the dark aura that circled WW1 (i'm not saying for no reason, it did take the lives of over 22 milion people) but we tend to forget how bloody and horifying WW1 was. It was after an time of peace with no war. people were EAGER to fight...

The most unforgivable among all the sins of WWI is to dimiss the shell shock as a psychiatric illness, instead officers saw them as excuses of cowardice. Thousands of soldiers were executed for this so called cowardice, even though many of them were the bravest of all before shell shock took its toll. The soldier wearing glasses who was afraid to march forward was probably one of the victims. Emile did the right thing to end a cruel man and certainly earned the respects of his comrades at the execution site.

Next game is going to be Valiant Hearts 2. World War 2. I am not looking forward to those atrocities...because then I am going to cry.

Rest in peace friend this story has a dramatic but goof ending am crying ):
Fuckin' sad ;'(
I want to play valiant heart ,not pubg , minecraft anymore
the feels at the end had me in tears.
Damn, your timing skills are making me anxious XD
The feels are strong with this one.
Omg i back and see the campaign later of 6 years
The feelz, man! The god-damn feelz ;,(
This one of them games that if made into a movie and it was done right omg
This ending make me crycry, i can't stop cry. Pls, so sad, "war make men mad"
The ending reminds me of that Stanley Kubrick film "Paths of Glory"
That ending though... The tears were rolling
this music is so touching
The ending is sad yet happy. The death of emille is tragic, but karl is reunited with his wife and son and emille only enlisted to mend his daughters tears. The whole game is an emotional roller coaster with an amazing score which made it sad. This is the only game to have made me cry this much.
I am crying. That dead guy Is a hero and Heroes never die because they will stay in our hearts.Like my grandpa-survived ww1 and ww2.During ww1 he was wounded and survived until last year. He was hero to.
Let us all remember and be reminded what our ancesters, great grandparents, have done to help us be where we are today. And let us thank them for their sacrifices and showing us how terrible and horrible war is, and to remind us to never make the same mistakes again. For without them, things could have been worse today.
I've started crying when he said "This letter is my last..."
This almost had me in tears just war makes us all mad and he had enough of his leader
Best game i've seen and played so far.
The tears! Oh, the tears! Right in the feels.
Wondering if there will be dlc for this game. It's just that if you look at the credits with freddie greeting ships and then look at the chapters and collectibles menu the timeline ends in 1917 but there's a space for another chapter going into 1918. Maybe playing as freddie, anna, walt and maybe freddie's brother and that RAF pilot george.
