Love the video but when changing your thread you should snip at the spool and remove thread from the needle area. You are bending the tension arm backward by pull the thread from the top. We've repaired a lot of machines because of that little issue. 🙃
I like all of them but I was impressed with the PE900 machine with the faux leather embroidery you are making my decision to purchase one better with each use of your video.

How do you know if/when a design has a placement stitch?

You will see it in the stitch order instructions!! It usually goes placement stitch, tack down stitch, then final stitch !
