You guys definitely should do a homing pigeon video. You throw your disc blind folded. And then you have a certain time limit to find your disc using the app, and if you don’t get it within the timeframe then you add a stroke

First off, shout out to MDG Media, their coverage of the European tour has been excellent. I like this break in the season, it's been refreshing seeing some other players and courses. I have enjoyed seeing the Majestic, and the few tournaments that Central Coast has had in the US. This has forced players to make a decision and it's great that we don't just see Gannon, Calvin and Ricky, for the most part. There are still strong fields, even if not every disc golfer is at every event. Most just got over to Europe. They have a week without a tournament this weekend, but it gives the pros a week to explore Europe and enjoy their time, then they have two larger events and possibly a 3rd if they want to stay for the European Disc Golf Festival.

I mean, Proctor beat 2 of the 3 greatest disc golfers of all time. I feel like (especially in FPO) that all wins right now are being discredited lol. It’s been the angle all season here. “I don’t want to discredit…” ….”but”

  • @legerdamain7132

    @legerdamain7132

Yeah they constantly complain and attempt to discredit FPO. Event is in Europe? "Well ALL of the GOOD players are still in the US." But when the event is in the US? "Well ALL of the GOOD players are traveling in Europe". Yeah, the field might be split, but there is a BETTER mix of really good US/Euro players in FPO than MPO, so really the split tour should be discrediting the MPO far more than FPO but they don't harp on MPO nearly as much.

  • @kingchuckfinley

@@legerdamain7132 I’ve been saying this since USWDGC when they were discrediting Missy’s win despite having an actual full field. Guess Kristin was already injured 🤷. And then again after DDO. It’s annoying as hell. Basically every tournament not won by Kristin of Evelina isn’t a “real win” in their eyes. As far MPO, this weekend Gannon would have been a threat but I think guys like isaac, Ezra and even prez would have been bigger threats than AB. I love AB as much as the next guy, but that course is not suited for him.

I love how the tour is split up between different locations (continents). The product is still great and now more diverse and it caters to a larger crowd. Having a 100% full field is why you have majors. Simple as. If every stop has all the best players all the time then how is a Champions Cup win more impressive than winning any othe tour stop? This is how tennis works for example. You dont always have all the best players in the field for every tournament. But when its time for a Grand Slam, the stakes are suddenly higher, as it should.

Yeah it's fine for there to be a small percentage of the tour where the best players get split up a bit. It's gives people the choice to travel or not. There's enough great players now that the events don't feel lacking. Personal preference, but it's also fun to see how things play out.

The DGPT should take some inspiration from tennis for their scheduling. Tennis has different surfaces with different styles. Leading up to each major, all of the smaller tournaments use the same surface as the next major so that all the players can prepare. If you do something similar for disc golf, you could have a set of woods course tournaments leading up to champions cup. Or you could do a set of golf course tournaments or European tournaments. Each set becomes a swing and you could make them geographically separate as well to match styles of golf with the regions that are known for that style. Edit: this idea does assume that something like Simon’s idea of four majors highlighting different styles of disc golf courses happens.

About tour locations, something to think about, what if dg takes off in some of the Asian countries as well. Will these pros he pulled in 3 directions? I do understand having some events still going on in America. Not every touring pro will be able to afford the travel and that can be their time to pick up a win maybe while the top people are traveling but definitely need to have the European leg all together where no big tourneys are missed here

These are tournaments with stacked fields, arguably better fiels than their euro counter parts. There are only probably 5-6/year that need talking about. When more touring pros play the a tier than play the tour stop, their has to be a conversation about. Marwede shoots -42 to win! Final round was electric!

Why is it assumed that the pro tour can't cater to the European fan base without going over there? I feel like efforts could be made to cater that don't require the pro tour to be over there. Running the Euro Tour, sponsoring key players to travel over to give clinics and/or star on the Euro Tour, make extra efforts to ensure quality coverage for European countries. Just a thought, but maybe I'm missing something. Great show as always guys!

Because the field and scene over here is not nearly as matured as in the US. Letting it grow naturally would take forever because the foundation here is non-existent, but making it part of the DGPT has a lot of potential just by being a part of Pro Tour. Just getting individual players over here is nice bet that's been happening for a long time already and it's just not as impactful. IMO the DGPT is doing the exact right move, give it some time and it just might become a normal part of the tour where more US players regularly attend the EU stretch.

Or do you need to be away from your bag and other discs? 2) Does the beeper have a screen or any way to turn down the beeper? 3) The price for entry seems expensive for a beeper? What other features does it have? Does it have an app? Does it beep for other peoples discs? Could it be used as a mini or would you not want to use it as a mini? Cases or covers for it? It doesn't make sense for them to buy the whole company. Innova already has too many molds and their own production. I don't think adding all of Prodigy molds really provides much value to them.

Why would they buy Prodigy? What would that give them that they don't already have? Even more poorly finished discs?

Sponsorship is a different aspect. And handled by a very different department within Prodigy. I would guess. They would have decided to not renew, or whatever to cut costs.

Glad to hear someone talk about the terrible Jomez thumbnails. Blows my mind. How would anyone outside of regular watchers even know their videos are about disc golf.

I think dgpt should have a clear elite tour. Few in states, few in europe, going back and forth, majors as the last event of each visit. Those who stay back play b-tiers or silver events.

You guys need to express your issues with the pro tour more frequently especially in regard to their media output. You guys are one of the loudest voices in disc golf and if you “complain” the will hear you. Love disc golf, but they are NEED help bad

On the small Jomez rant, their top 10 videos are just putt compilations, it’s terrible. I started watching disc golf because I found a shots video and it blew my mind. The talent on shots is too high to feature 8 putts in your top ten. Anyone can run into hitting a 50ft putt, few can shape a 500ft shot. That’s my rant.

So many people in the comments overhyping Silva. She is great and I think top 10 but everyone saying that she is top 5 is just recency bias. She is on a good run but don't jump to conclusions.

Sorry you can't have all your favorite players monopolize the entire tour all year every year. Sorry there are more players than just your hand picked favorite ball golf track stars. Sorry there are more people competing for the actual "World" title, in the actual "WORLD" than just the U.S. based ball golf bombers. I guess it's just going to have to be up to each individual player which tour stops they hit, and see where they place. Sincerely, please don't talk about growing the sport, in the same conversation you talk about limiting who gets to be on tour based on scheduling. If you want to grow the sport, then we need even more events than we currently have, to showcase tracks the world over, and the talent the world over. And this idea where we only have pro tour stops that facilitate massive crowds surrounding each fairway, is pretty short sighted, and that's only about selling tickets, not growing the sport. There actually are other ways to grow the sport, than selling tickets to people who want to be there to see it. It's 2024. Incredible camera abilities and loads of media outlets ensure better views of any card you'd like to see. But to get back to the scheduling, if we're going to say that less pro tour stops should have conflicting dates, and those stops only allow so many entries, then you're 100% not interested in growing the sport, you're only interested in selling tickets.
