Vader's Thoughts if Anakin NEVER Turned to the Dark Side - INCREDIBLE

Ойын-сауық

In this video let's look at the excerpt from dark lord the rise of darth vader where Vader wonders what would have happened had Anakin never turned to the dark side and remained a Jedi. What happens to Luke and Leia Skywalker? Would Anakin Skywalker still be with Padme and would the Jedi allow this?
Thank you for watching today's video. I hope you have a great day, and I'll see you in the next one! May the force be with you, ALWAYS!

I wonder if after qui gonn was killed, the council shifted their mistrust and resentment of him onto Anakin since he was discovered by him. His relationship with the council is very similar to what we know about qui gonn’s

That seems plausible because they didn't trust Anakin; Qui Gon was more of a neutral Jedi, opposing the extreme dogma of the Sith and Jedi Orders, where he wanted a balance between the dark and light side teachings and use of the Force, which would put him at odds with the Council. After all, Anakin was deemed too old by the Jedi Council to be indoctrinated thoroughly into the Jedi mindset. Therefore, he might explore dark side teachings and have emotions shunned by the Jedi. Unfortunately, Obi-Wan followed the Jedi Council's attitude of being a purist rather than looking at a balanced view of the Force. Ultimately, had Qui Gon lived, he would be the best master for Anakin, training with someone that doesn't exactly line up with the purist mindset of the Jedi Council, willing to buck the Council if need be. Giving Anakin the best form of training to harness the dark and light side of the Force, to bring balance to the Force as the Chosen One.

They should have kept this Canon. It's completely realistic to Vaders psychology. It actually allows the reader to feel conflicted with the morality of Anakins actions during operation nightfall. Slaughtering the younglings in cold blood was wrong and betraying his friend and master was heartbreaking, but allowing the jedi to limp on its last leg for further decades while he served their dogma was unacceptable. It had to fall.

From Empire Strikes Back when Yoda was talking to Luke I got the impression that a Jedi master with years of training could be more powerful than a Sith master, but on the low end the difference is greater. Like taking a drug. And like taking a drug eventually the dark side eats away at you and you do terrible things to keep the rush of having that power. You become an addict and a slave to the dark side. Basically power wise the floor is higher for a Sith, but the ceiling is higher for a Jedi.

Cool intro, I like it Tho I like the idea that we should start calling it The Old Canon instead of Legends. Considering what they did with Disney Canon (that feels more like badly written tumblr fanfic), I don't think they should have the power to tell us what we should be calling canon or not. Same with Slave-1. Just because Disney wanted to erase that name, doesn't mean we should listen to them.

To think that all it would have taken was Ahsoka deciding to accept her Knighthood would have made Anakin a Master... that one decision potentially caused Vader. To be fair to Windu, a Master needs to prove they are capable of training a Padawan to Knighthood and by the time Anakin was on the council, he hadn't done that. On one hand, he had never trained someone to Jedi Knight, but on the other hand he had trained someone to the point where the council was prepared to offer a knighthood to Ahsoka. So technically he wasn't eligible but in reality, he had shown he was capable. If Ahsoka had said yes, he would have been granted the rank by default. That was the moment that caused Vader to exist imo.

Films: The council deems Anakin unworthy before Ahsoka is even conceived of. Legends: So here's this formality the council is being a stickler to so we don't have to admit it's about Anakin being unworthy. Sure buddy the Jedi's corruption and anti life philosophy are to blame here. They don't allow any attachment whatsoever and expect a 9 year old boy who misses his mother to just "detach". The Jedi order needed to embrace emotions but guide them. Yoda's advice was total bs and he alongside the Jedi's history are to blame for people falling to the Darkside. Anakin needed a father figure but Obi Wan was a berating older brother figure instead of a kind father figure that he needed. Obi Wan was part of the corruption because he was more loyal to the corrupt republic than the force itself. Many don't notice that but the separatists were right, only their methods were wrong. When Obi Wan told Anakin he was loyal to the Republic that was the final nail on the coffin. If he answered the he was loyal to his Jedi family and the Force, that the republic was a problem; that his love for his mother and wife weren't wrong, maybe Anakin wouldn't go that far. He was bullied by other younglins but the order just like always acted apathetic. They asked the dude to be a double agent and he was already tired of being slighted. Did they appreciate that?Nope, he was berated and treated as suspicious despite being the Jedi's Jesus while Palpatine encouraged him and praised him. They offered him zero solutions but simple inaction. Yes he's responsible for his deeds but he didn't start as some typical kid psycho who abused animals and his peers. He was a kind and sweet child, so what made him go that bad?

@@SpaceAcex oh he was selfish for loving his mother and trying to save her while the Jedi thought it was good she died and "became one of the force"? The Jedi were mass murderers in the past either by action or apathy. Anakin is just a chip off the old Jedi block. The Jedi is a child kidnapping institution where if you you make the trial they just dump you while trying to brainwash you to become less human. That's why Luke knew the old Jedi order had to go. Qui Gon, Plo Koon were probably the only genuinely good dudes in that order because they served the force more than some corrupt republic or religious dogma. The Jedi has millenia of bad track for losing people to the dark side but it's all their fault huh? It's easy to tell people to detach when you don't give a damn if wars or mass murders are happening. The Jedi are as much responsible for the atrocities as are the Sith.

I wouldn't say Anakin was more powerful then all of his teachers, you have to remember when Obi Wan and Anakin were fighting, Obi wan wasn't just fighting Anakin, he was fighting himself as well, you have to remember that he told Yoda he couldn't kill Anakin because he was his brother. So I think its important to remember Obi Wan was probably fighting Anakin as well as his own thoughts and feelings about not wanting to get rid of Anakin, but to help him, but also knowing he had to do what he must. I think this is not only clearly shown in movie 3, but as well in the Obi Wan series with Obi Wan vs Vader. One other thing too is that Anakin/Vader never actually beats Obi Wan in any fights. Even when Obi Wan gets old and is struck down by Vader, his last words were "I will become even more powerful than you" and from some of the comics I have seen after this engagements Obi Wan tends to Haunt, and torture Vader with his own thoughts Until the end. Obi Wan the MVP here :P

I think if they would have taught him and taught him thier wisdom instead of trying to force thier will on him things would have turned out much different. However there is still the fact that thing we're skewed heavily to the light side. Maybe it had to happen that way. After he went dark there were only two sith and two jedi. Afterwards you had Luke whom found balance between both.

Had Vader not lost to Obi-Wan on Mustafar he would have killed Sidious and hunted down Yoda and killed him too, leaving the Galaxy to Vader's will for him and his children. I believe Anakin wouldn't be fully sith he would have a balance between the two and teach his kids to do the same. Anakin Skywalker would have been the most powerful being in Star Wars.

Very good points. I'm a bit disappoint in Obi-Wan because of Gui-Gons teachings, and he used little of it, even if he knows and says at some point how blind the Jedi are, Yoda says it also at some point, but don't remember when. The Point with the Jedi don't give him the status of a Master was if I recall correct was because of the intervention from Sidious how insist that Anakin get a seat in the High Council and yes from their point it was a no-go, and I think that's exactly was the Plan of Sidious, he knows it would be an affront on both sides.

I would say that probably the most kickass story to tell in Star Wars, is that down to the moment Palpatine thwarted Windu, and he turns to Anakin to sway him to the darkness, Anakin would hear the calling of the good in him, and still say no, and despite the great anxiety and anger that may course through his veins, he clings to what is good and take on Palpatine by himself, however Palpatine in their intense fight, subdued Anakin and knock him out unconscious, and Order 66 is still carried out, destroying the Jedi Order. Anakin, however, would regain consciousness and break through the ranks of the clones and return to the Jedi Temple to help the younglings escape , i.e., a revamped scene where they pleaded with him what are the to do in this time, Anakin shows the kindness that is in him and offers solidarity and safety, and helps them escape, instead of, well... what ACTUALLY happened. But as of this happens, but the conflict and confusion still resides in Anakin about saving Padmes life when she goes into labor as he's rescuing younglings and kicking clone trooper ass, and even THAT creates conflict because he has fought along side these clones in the war that have waged on, and they tirelessly served under him, and now, like a flip of a switch, all of a sudden forgot that, and let loose and destroyed the Jedi. I've literally thought all of this shit out, even went as far as being able to recreate all into the events of Episodes 4,5, and 6, basically saying this would happen had Anakin never turned but Order 66 still happened, even going as far as to replacing Darth Vaders role with Darth MAUL, as a newly renowned apprentice of Palpatine, (So basically pitting The Skywalker bloodline against Maul as the Dark Lord of the Sith). I even came up with the idea of a BADASS final fight with Luke and Anakin against Maul and Sidious and Sidiouses royal guard, where Maul is finally killed by Luke, and Anakin kills Sidious, fulfilling the prophecy. Someone should let Disney know of this idea.

Although Vader viewed the council's dogmatic approach towards limiting power as their flaw, their efforts can be justified. Their method to training jedi in the Force can be justified by the fact that it was their earnest effort to prevent a student from becoming too powerful and destroy the Jedi Order. They lacked trust in Anakin and because of that they were hesitant to give him access to more training and power. There has to be a balance between showing restraint and allowing students to chase their potential, especially when there is a possibility that that student could become a threat to the existence of the jedi. The Sith encourage their apprentices to learn everything their master's know and all secrets of the Force. And what usually happens for the Sith? The apprentice plots to kill the master and take his/her place. The worst fear of a jedi master is accidentally creating a sith or an enemy to the jedi order and the peace.

This is foolish thinking, because the Dark Side is a drug. A lot of Jedi like Dooku and Anakin operated under the delusion that they were they were strong enough to not allow it to control them, and they had to find out firsthand that it was virtually impossible to break its hold on them. Any reasonable person would fear the dark side, as it eventually destroys the user as well as everyone around them.

For as benevolent as the Jedi are portrayed, ironically they lack one of the most virtuous of human senses. Empathy. If Qui-Gon survived, he alone may have been the Jedi to show Anakin the love, empathy, and understanding he needed. Anakin went through terrible pain, all the way from childhood. I totally understand his resentment for the Jedi council, and I believe that this resentment led him to become Vader. Even more so than the loss of Padme.

Qui-Gon Jinn was not a member of the council, so not a Master in rank. He was referred to as master by Padawans and non-jedi as a token of office, like the commander of a naval vessel being referred to as captain despite their actual rank. Anakin not being granted the rank of master was a way to curb Daddy Palps’ influence, but Anakin saw it as a personal insult. Had he been ready, he’d have recognized that. Ironically enough, his little tantrum proved Mace Windu right.

The book does a good job on portraying Vader's mindset... but it's more to rationalize the situation he was in. For by that time, he was essentially alone with no one that loved him or cared for him. For Vader would have also surely recognized that his suit really didn't help him all that much... it gave him some means of protection against things... but it also left him in constant pain, irritated his skin, and kept him away. He couldn't eat or relieve himself in the way others could and thus really couldn't have much in the way of enjoyment. This had to tell him that Palpatine didn't truly care for him personally, merely saw him as a tool to be used. But with Padme gone, no child, and no one to pull him back... Palpatine was all that he had. So, he's rationalizing the mistakes he made and really only looking at things with only "half" the picture. For in a way, yes, being on the Council and not being a Master was "insulting," but WHO wanted him there? Palpatine, not anyone on the Council. Obi Wan might have supported it, because of his loyalties to Qui Gon, but the rest of the Council viewed Anakin with some degree of suspicion because Anakin acted out in ways that were rather un-Jedi-like and made excuses for Palpatine. And he does this even in "Attack of the Clones," where he essentially says that "someone wise" should just tell people what's best for the galaxy and he says that to Padme's face, which she describes as tyranny, and he just shrugs that off like it is nothing. The Council likely had these fears, and were it not for Palpatine's dealings, they probably would not have even put him on the council... So, Vader is still rationalizing things to excuse Palpatine's actions and shift blame away from himself for siding with Palpatine. And the thoughts on power and "the Chosen One" play into in another way. Yes, Anakin was called the Chosen One plenty of times, and surely Anakin had heard it... but the prophecy was vague and Yoda even admits in "Revenge of the Sith" that they may have misread it. So they were simply assuming that Anakin would openly fight Sidious as a means to secure that prophecy. And so, if they didn't fully understand how it would work, Anakin, surely wouldn't understand any better... and with his tendencies shown in the prequels, we also get the sense that Anakin, while powerful, is not necessarily controlled or thoughtful. It's more that he reacts to things rather than thinking and considering all his options or all things. There is no consideration of what other may think. And that sort of shows when Padme confronts Vader. When Padme recognizes what's happening... she DOESN'T blame Obi Wan or the Jedi or the Republic. She says, "Anakin, you're breaking my heart." But Anakin cannot accept that, because that would imply that HE made mistakes. So, by the time that the events of the book take place, Vader is still trying to rationalize what happened and excuse his own behavior to make him seem the victim of a plot by someone else. Despite the fact that everything that happened was largely a result of his own actions. Which reflects on how much Anakin often dwells on his power in the prequels. But power is not the same thing as mastery. Mastery requires time and effort to hone that power. And while Anakin had learned a lot since coming to the Jedi, it's not like he truly gained the skill to be a Jedi Master... The power was there, certainly, but as with many other things, the Council, with the possible exception of Obi Wan, noted that a lot of Anakin's actions betrayed more of their worries and concerns, which only made them question as to if he truly had mastered what would be needed to be a Jedi. For in Anakin's mind, being able to beat Dooku was more than enough to prove things, even though he even admitted that it wasn't "the Jedi way." Yet, he never stops to think through things... like why Palpatine ordered him to murder Dooku and he responded without a second thought and only snapped out of it after Dooku was dead. Which is again more a reaction to things than thinking through things... and in this, one could make the clear case that Anakin wasn't a master but an exceptionally powerful knight, at best... But by the timeframe of this book, Vader can't concede any sort of concept on where HE was wrong, so, he just rationalizes that the Jedi, or Obi Wan, or someone else held him back because they feared his power... when power was never what they truly worried about. But it lets Vader rationalize what he did and absolve himself of guilt and continue to serve the man who manipulated him.

Loved every bit of this. He did make what he deemed was a right decision to join the Sith. The only thing is that, his morality became so confused in doing so that he became desensitised to anything other than his rage, which resulted in actions like killing younglings and strangling his pregnant wife being seen as justified. You can’t partner with evil and not expect it to consume you wholly. His whole story is a tragic self-sabotage. The fear of something can eventually lead to the realisation of it.
