20 years ago I got a Vader compilation CD and this song is on it. It was a blind buy and this was the song I liked best only to discover a short time later Mayhem did the original.

This is the greatest band I have ever heard.

I'll just say this. There's a reason black metal works well with simple riffs and lofi production. I understand trying to be unique and original but there's a reason the original worked so well.

RoninWaffle It's a good interpretation, but it's not the same style at all. Piotr is singing an octave lower than Attila, with more fry, less distortion and less overtones... He is in the same spirit though.

Vader did a great job here. The instrumentals and production quality are absolute perfection. But that's exactly why i like the original better. It has darker vocals, and a raw agressive "underground" edge to the sound, due to the lower-quality. This cover sounds like highly produced modern blackened death. Reminds me of Belphegor.

HA!!! They fucking butchered it. The drums were simplistic at best as well as the guitar solo. They "covered" a song that they were incapable of covering. TRASH!!!

Ta wersja tej piosenki najmniej mi się podoba, został zabrany cały klimat. Moim zdaniem Behemoth w stosunku do niej lepiej sobie poradził

it nice to see just how many metal bands from what genres mayhem had its influence on, one of the true pioneers in extreme metal

I think both versions are really great. But i think the original is a little vit darker. But Vader did an awesome job.

The only version where you can clearly hear the lyrics lol. I love both versions so no hate please.

Remember variable quality? Often sounded worse than 144k. I still have nightmares about some The Haunted demo song I dl'd as a teen, which averaged 90 something. Like listening to a poor live performance w/o audience inside a tin can. That made you rush to get the CD like nothing else.

When I was a kid in 1995 I had a dream, euronymos was driving , and I sat shotgun, he pointed to a full moon and told me too follow, the first time I saw him without makeup, then years later I saw his raw face ,was then I knew it was a real vision, so now all these years later , I've still not FORGOTTON .

Damn right... I do appreciate that they brought their own style to it tho.. it's not a bad cover... Behemoth's is pretty good too... This version sounds like the singer is tryin to sound like Attila more than Dead.. also another great Mayhem cover is Gorgoroth's cover of "Life Eternal"... It's fuckin dope...they play it in a lower key than Mayhem... The only thing about it that I didn't like is that they don't focus on that sick ass bass line which in my opinion along with the main guitar riff is just fuckin awesome musicianship.... Had Varg not murdered Euronymous I think the DMDS lineup would've made some more great albums had none of that shit happened.

This cover kicks ass instrumentally, but it sounds like he's trying to imitate Atilla at the end, and NO ONE ON THIS FUCKING PLANET can come anywhere near imitating Atilla's vocals during that part. I like how they put a twist on the riffs.
