Carol Burnett and Tim Conway brought us happiness just by being so funny. This was pure comedy without the trash and vulgarity that are in TV today. It doesn't get any better than these two. Love them both.

I'm only a 23 year old but I honestly vouch with people in the comments about certain appliances from back then lasted years. Being from parents growing up during the 60s and 70s, I always hate how the things they have that are older then me last way longer then things made now a days. We had our fridge for 25-30 years that worked like a dream, and then they got a new one last year that broke within the first month. This century is taking a downturn that only Carol Burnett can fix with laughter 🙏🏻

When I was a newlywed in 1967 a salesman came by the apartment and demonstrated a Riccar sewing machine which I bought for three monthly payments of $30.00. That thing has worked perfectly for nearly fifty years, probably because I followed his directions to oil it frequently. I often think of him and especially while watching this video.

I once let a double glazing salesman pitch for five hours. They cold called me, I told his manager that I wouldn't be signing until I had got three quotes. Also told the patronising salesman the same thing as soon as he arrived. I opened a box of chocolates for 'lunch'. As he was leaving with me not buying he suggested I made out a personal cheque to him for the deposit, and if I changed my mind he would destroy the cheque. I got my cheque book out, his face lit up. I put the pen on the cheque book, he was happy. Then I told him that I wanted to get three more quotes. He left slamming the door.

Reminds me of when my mother and Aunt both wanted a very specific Electrolux Vacuum cleaner. Expensive but worth the investment. They arranged for a sales rep to come over and my Aunt was also there. The guy went through the ENTIRE presentation. Mom kept interrupting him to say, "You don't have to do this. We each want to buy one." But he went on for almost 45 minutes. It was weird. But in the "olden days" people had work ethics, so maybe he felt he had to do something to earn his money. 🤔 Not like these days. 🤑 LL 🙋🏻‍♀️✝🇨🇦

Back in the day, you could buy anything from a door to door salesperson. Cosmetics, Bibles, Encyclopedia, Dictionary, Vaccuum cleaners just to name a few. Who remembers "Ding Dong Avon Calling? lol

My Olympia vacuum outcleans anything new. Someone was throwing it out, I recovered it, have used it for over twenty five years! And I sold Electrolux vacuums, very hard to sell door to door. Wasn't any good, but I still believe in their vacuums till this day!

I remember my father putting the Rainbow Vacuum Salesman through two hours of hell making him demo every feature: sucking water out of the toilet - then blowing the water back out; vacuuming out our dirty fireplace... Then making him vacuum our entire house. Meanwhile, my father is poring highballs insisting that the salesman drink with him. Eventually, my father broke out the checkbook since the poor guy definitely worked for it. In 1974, $1200 for a vacuum was a lot of money, but my dad said it was a fair deal since the guy drove at least 15-20 miles from the nearest town out to our ranch, and the fact he was such a good sport.

Wow... $1200 still seems an enormous amount of money for a vacuum cleaner! Or am I missing something here? I've never heard of the Rainbow brand, maybe because I'm from Europe (The Netherlands). I see they're still in business. I'm 33 years old and I cannot recall any door-to-door sales practices here. Well, except for the Jehova's Witness trying to sell God every once in a while.

Jay Nielsen Holy Cow!!! 1200 bucks??!! That is still alot of cash for a vacuum cleaner, but in the 70s, that was a fortune.

@@DGA2000 Yep. My brother bought one back then. Still uses it, since it's the only vacuum he has (or ever had). I asked him about it a couple years ago, and says it still works as good as when he bought it. Loves it. He wont use anything else.
