Back when we had only 3 channels to watch but had quality entertainment.

Hilarious. These three made television great. It's not so great anymore. This is pure comedy.

I just started getting into the Carol Burnett Show, and I have to say Tim Conway is definitely my fav!

Sarah Crews, part of the humor is lost. This was produced and broadcast during the U.S. energy crisis, and thieves stole gasoline by actually siphoning gasoline from others' cars.

I would love to have this service come back. We will miss you Mr. Conway

Cheyney mcneil, starting in the 80s we stripped music and arts from our schools to save money and just teach kids "the basics." Once one or two generations pass through without being given that cultural legacy and the richness of the arts, you no longer have an audience for things like this.

NOTHING LIKE CARROLL BURNETT SHOW. I ALWAYS SAW THIS EVERY EPISODE IN THE 70S.

We had a work program when I was in high school in the 70's. I went to school till noon, then went to work at a service station till 6 pm. I made $1.50 an hour. We checked the tires, oil, cleaned the windshield, checked belts and hoses and brake fluid and power steering fluid. Was a Gulf Station and gas was $.32 a gallon.

I too pumped gas. Got 10 bucks for the night. We pumped the gas and did the windshields. We were teens and car savvy and would help with anything else if asked, like check the tires, oil, etc

I loved watching this show when I was a little kid and at times I would watch it with my parents....

That green car came apart just like an old Vega....actually it WAS an old Vega! LMAO!

The end was so funny to me. I could not stop laughing.

Boy I haven't seen a Vega in ages. Such a great show, nothing compares to the comedic genius of this show and it's actors.

My dad reminded me of Tim. He never paid 4 high octane or premium gas. He would get out and pump his own gas, check his oil and used the squeegee to clean his windshield - all for a savings of a few pennies!!

When I think of all the different people who have done SNL over the years there's none that compare to Tim. They had to try and be funny but not Tim. He was a natural and it showed and that quick wit was something! It's really not fair to the SNL staff because Tim is way way out of their league.

Fill that Vega with gas and it doubled the value of the car!!

🤦🏻‍♀️ Whoever came with idea of self service was a disarrayed person followed by a bunch of look-alikes!! Thank goodness we have no such thing in my region. Service is equal.

Back when comedy was actually funny! Not inappropriate, not over the top and crazy just good fun comedy.

A lot of prop work went into that comedy sketch. The Chevy Vega model here has the fuel filler behind the rear license plate, not the side. The hood also is hinged to tilt forwards, opposite of what you see here. Today this $3500 original price car is worth $5-7k.

that has to be the funniest interrogation i ever seen tim conway has to go down as the funniest icon of comedy of his time. rip tim conway and harvey korman.

I sure do miss having a proper gas attendant...especially during the winter, it gets cold in Maine! Seriously, I remember when the gas stations started changing to self-service. We all hated it! My mother refused to learn how to do it, and to this day has never pumped her own gas once! (It was nice, pulling up to the pump and having all these little extras done for you. I wish things hadn't changed!)

When I was about 7 my mom had a VW bug. she asked the attendant to check the oil. he said "this car doesn't need oil. It's air cooled!

Craig Downey my grandpa had a Bug when I was a kid. I remember him asking a gas station attendant to check the oil and the attendant walking to the front of the car.

I remember when a few guys came out, one pumped gas and one checked your oil and washed your windows lol.

Tim sure was a snappy dresser!
