Vacation House Build - Post and Beam

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a vacation house project we are currently working on for a private investor. This video part will cover the build from the installation of the metal brackets to the concrete slab up to the preparation for the roofing tiles. All the posts and beams are made from laminated timber in GL24 class. Posts are 16x16cm, braces are 16x10cm, beams are mostly 18x20cm and rafters are 10x32cm. We tried to do most of the work in the workshop so the cutting on the site was brought down to the minimum. Each post and beam was cut to measure, all the slits and holes were drilled. We hired a laser cutting company to cut all the steel elements, then we welded them into nodes in our workshop. All the steel is hot dip galvanized. It took us about two weeks to prepare everything in the workshop and about a week to assemble it on the worksite . For more info, turn on the CC for subtitles.

prije će maslenički most odvijati na vitru nego ovo. svaka čast momci. daleko ste najbolji kanal sa ovih prostora. jedini minus je taj što nemate bar deset puta više videa, tako da mogu svaku večer prije spavanja guštati.

Great build! The metal brackets and wooden structural elements size may seem an overkill but, if I am not mistaken, that is a region of the globe where buildings must withstand the effects of earthquakes. Add the weight of the winter snow and building like a tank is the only way to go (and meet code, I guess). Beautiful real life Lego and for sure a joy to erect. And a lot of unseen planning and shop man-hours. Thank you for sharing your skills.

It mostly depends on the structural engineer and architect. Some prefer hidden steel so we have a lot more precision work and some just want it simple and strong. But yeah, this house is in area with possible heavy snow load so better be sure..

Awesome video as usual! Really like the subtitles with explanations, very interesting. I'd say that the brackets from a theoretical point of view is quite overkill BUT from my personal point of view they are truly a technical and mechanical work of art, and very install friendly, therefore not overkill, you keep doing what you are doing, it's very impressive all of it. If I were to move to your country I would definitely hire you to build my new house. Greetings from Sweden.

nice. for such projects without electricity it is better to use battery powered impact wrenches and nailguns instead powering a air compressor from a generator. and you do not need to ask neighbours for a favor too.
