The whole idea of mono blocks is to have 2 separate power supplies

I've seen all the other reviews on this amp, but I trust & like your reviews cause you seem like a regular Joe. I have actually bought a couple of things you reviewed & I'm completely happy with my purchases. So late or not, great review. 👍🏻

Agreed. Two separate power supplies would allow you to position the amplifiers as close as you’d like to your speakers. That is the better approach, from both electrical performance and setup flexibility aspects. 💜

Excellent review! It was ridiculous that I could tell the difference on my phone at work didn't expect that The fosi seem to have better resolution dynamics or something. The texture of the piano. Puts my mind at ease after putting an order in for them last week. I did go with two power supplies.

I'm curious how it sounds compared to the Aiyima A07 MAX, none youtuber that got both did a comparaison between them. I've only heard that the Ayima 07 Max is wider soundstaging and more clear and bright than the Fosi ZA3 but it's the same conclusion i hear about the ZA3 compared to the V3 Mono, so how is this V3 mono compared to the A07 Max, did someone test it switching from one to the other? Thanks

now we need to see some good budget pre-amp pairings, I like the SMSL pre-amp 300, or the Schiit Jotthorielm ,

I had the rest of the jigsaw turn up in the post with the aiyima a07 max's. I also grabbed a little douk/nobsound tube preamp thing I actually think that was more a game changer than the 2nd aiyima. But anyway it does actually sound pretty sweet to my ears better than was initially expecting. Still agree with your summary over za3 you add it all up and you've basically got an integrated amp with less inputs...

Yes, good point: Turn-on order should start furthest upstream in the signal path and work successively downward: CD player, DAC, pre-amp, and then amp. Reverse this when shutting your system off. Whenever devices are turned on or off, unknown/nasty electrical transients can occur on their outputs. Think of it like an electrical bee sting or punch. Not something you want to subject your gear to habitually. Particularly if the amp is “DC coupled” since speakers should never should be subjected to a DC signal, even briefly.

Subscribed for the A B sound tests, is it me or does the Rotel have better mid bass and fuller sound while the Fosi has greater detail and air up top?

Pre on - power on - power off - pre off, in that order. It's become 2nd nature to me now. Still, I was looking forward to auto-on and hadn't considered thumping. A little test with my current power amp left on tells me my MiniDSP doesn't seem to be causing thumps through my current power amps anyway, but it is worth considering. Does the auto-on keep the amps on during quiet sessions or do they switch themselves off after 10 minutes? I'm guessing the lower gain setting will help there. I'm planning on improvising some feet to aid ventilation and finding something to weigh them down to prevent movement. Good to hear the Asa Chang & Junray on the outro.

Thing is once they put an internal power supply in, will they be the value of say a Marantz, Denon, Yamaha . I agree on the power and with power comes certain benefits, as do the all in ones. I had xtz a-s 300 which I ran mono blocks, and it was impressive. I think for now I just prefer A/B with 100 plus power . I still own a very good class d but it's not a more affordable one . Really enjoy the vids ..

. The A11 Tribute, when available, I like. But Rotel screwed up by eliminating the pre-outs on the A10 & A11. Wish they kept developing instead of killing the RDD-1580 DAC too.

The Rotel is easier to listen to but the Fosi's sound more dynamic. Sound quality is about the same to me. So it depends on the sound you prefer I guess. Listened on a pair of old 2nd hand Utopia headphones with a Nitche Piety fed by a Fiio BTA30 Pro DAC

Curious to try these out even though I really do not need any more audio equipment. Maybe I'll sneak 'em in while the wife is sleeping. Bought Wharfedale Aura 2 speakers a few weeks ago and blew my budget all to hell but it was well worth it as they sound absolutely amazing.

I preferred the Rotel actually, much more microdetails coming through and more definition overall. But I would not run those Fosis with stock opamps. My ZA3 with upgraded op amps is a different beast entirely

Most modern integrated amps have pretty decent DACs. For example, I don't feel the need to use an external DAC with my Leak 230. In saying that, I think that a good DAC with the V3 mono in a desktop situation would be beneficial.

Better is maybe a big word, but the Fosi's def. sounded more nuanced to me. I also prefer separate PSU's, since there is no shared powersupply impedance and, theoretically, better stereo imaging. Thanks for your (always) engaging review, lol.

You either have to have a preamp with a sub out or you can use a sub with speaker level inputs like the Wharfedale SW-150 for example.

Recommended setup .... 2 x V3M ... 2 x 36 volt 5 amp supplies ... RCA gain on 25db setting. At 36 volts you will get about 75 clean RMS watts on 8 ohms and 140 on 4. But the amps will not run hot as they do on 48 volts. The thump is probably coming from the Rotel pre-amp which would normally not be audible because of the delay turn on for the speakers.

Nice👍💯👍 To my ears the rotel had a richer sound , i heard it on my tv , impressions might be different on location , tv might alter the sound, but nice comparison, the leak amp is by far nicer visually, these fosi amps must be hidden from eyes, they are ugly.
