Thanks for this great video going into great detail! Especially addressing the different types of grease is so useful. But it looks rather complicated for me. I am glad to have a to gear Bromi without hub ;-) I'm looking forward for the videos to come!

Great video. Very thorough dismantling to understand the gearbox. Isn't it easier to remove the whole gearbox first? After removing the gear (see 0:20) but not the nuts, then flip over to the non drive side to unscrew the nuts and the bearing cup(see 5:30). Then flip over the drive side and not unscrew the nuts but the gearbox retention ring (see 4:55 & 7:28). After this, the whole gearbox could be removed from the hub for further dismantling and servicing.

Great video. I need your help. I cleaned my new Brompton C-Line after a wet ride. The rear pedal and crank arm will not rotate when I fold the bike up. The rear hub is stiff. I have to hold down the chain tensioner to rotate the pedal and crank arm. So I took the hub apart and put it back together again. I tightened the drive side cone nut hand tight, then backed off half a turn to allign with the locking washer. I put it all back together and it was fixed. But I now have very slight play in the rear wheel. Brompton support tell me there should be no play at all. But if I tighten it, the stiffness comes back. So the bike will not fold properly unless I hold the chain tensioner. Kind regards Paul Nelson

The types of grease is very well explained, good. Just a pointer for slight improvement, if someone can shine a light on the small rectangular piece (where the indicator link engages) inside the hub when it’s being explained will be good because it is too dark - cannot be clearly seen. The background noise of some else talking at park in the beginning is also distracting. Overall, a good thumb up!

Hi Sifu Bartley, i just got a Brompton A Line 3 speeds, can i use my Pikes 6 speed rear wheel and shifter to upgrade my my A Line to 6 speeds?

Do you do servicing for BWR wheel?

Need advice, after servicing my M6L internal hub, when I shift to 2nd gear(internal hub gear) it will skip gear when I cycle... Any idea which parts I may have assembled wrongly... 😅

I won't recommend ceramic balls as the bearing races will wear must faster. Ceramic vs steel sanding action, Ceramic wins. Also Ceramic uses very light grease... as a result poor waterproofing and your hub can get rusted.

Hi! how often should this hub be serviced? once every few years or are there any "symptoms" to look out for?

Once a year but always check for free play when general cleaning
