Edge swap ► R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F'

Parity ► R U' R' U' R U R D R' U' R D' R' U2 R' U'
Q: When do I use the parity algorithm?
A: After solving edges, but before solving corners; and ONLY IF you have parity.
Q: How do I know if there is parity?
A: If you need to memorize an odd number of corners and an odd number of edges.
Q: Would I ever have to memorize an even number of edges, but odd number of corners? Or vice versa?
A: No, they should always be both even or both odd, otherwise you made a mistake.
Q: How do I remember how to undo a setup move?
A: When you do setup moves, imagine the piece moving along a path towards the swapping spot. After the swap, try to move the piece back along the same path towards its home location.
Q: What do I do for flipped pieces?
They're just like new cycles.
Edges: 5:10
Corners: 10:37
Q: How do I remember which pieces I have already visited in memorization?
A: You can start with placing your fingers on the ones you have been to, and as your memorization gets faster it will become easier and you won't need your fingers.
What I do during my solves now is memorize corners first. For example if corners has an odd number of letters, then edges must too. If I think I've memorized enough edges and I have memorized an odd number as well, then I've probably got them all. The only thing that could be missing is flipped pieces (since the shortest non-flip cycle adds 3 letters, which would make it even, not odd).
Q: How do new cycles work?
A: Pick any unsolved piece (memorize it), then follow through the pieces (memorizing each one) until you reach the same piece you started with (memorize that piece again). 3:49
Q: What if my buffer piece is solved?
A: Start a new cycle with an unsolved piece. 5:10
Q: What if my buffer piece is in the right spot and flipped?
A: Then something else on the cube must be unsolved. Solve everything else, and the buffer will automatically be solved.
Q: I did a swap using the setup moves below. Why did the piece end up in the correct spot and flipped?
A: Each piece has multiple letters for it, depending on which exact sticker you are swapping with. For example, the top front edge has the letters C and I. Make sure you choose the right one.
Q: When I thought I finished, why were there still flipped pieces?
A: Either (1) you made a mistake during memorization and chose the wrong letter or (2) in the beginning the piece was already in the right spot and flipped, but you didn't notice and didn't solve it.

To those of you who are learning 3BLD, it's exhilarating and exciting be able to put on a blindfold and turn the cube with the memo in your head and put your hands down to stop the timer to see a completely solved cube (Especially when you turn really fast and get a sub-30). To compare that to the frustration of the learning curve of the lettering scheme, letter pairs, setup moves, and cycle breaks. Afterward just to get DNFs from forgotten memos, incorrect setup moves or just errors in general. I am triumphantly here to say that with carefull targeted practice and sighted solves, YOU CAN DO 3BLD! It's completely worth the frustration, only if you're willing to the work to learn it. P.S. Sorry that was kind of long, but it was also written to myself to keep me going on to keep trying to break new barriers (sub-27). P.P.S. Thanks to j-perm for updating his tutorial.

    If I may make a suggestion for this: Don’t use wide moves for some setup moves in the edge stage. For example: T with wide moves would be d2 L’ I find it much better and faster to use slice moves instead so E2 L’ Full list of slice edge setup moves: A: M2 D’ L2 B: buffer piece C: M2 D L2 D: no setup moves E: L E’ L F: E’ L G: L E L’ H: E L’ I: M D’ L2 J: E2 L K: M D L2 L: L’ M: buffer piece N: E L O: D’ M D L2 P: E’ L’ Q: M’ D L2 R: L S: M’ D’ L2 T: E2 L’ U: D’ L2 V: D2 L2 W: D L2 X: L2 Hope this tip of mine helped, and have fun blind solving!

Wow thanks for the new list! I'll heart your comment. I think it's not a big deal because this is only a beginner method, and wide vs slice moves is only a small detail. I agree your way is faster especially for E. Another reason is most people don't know which way E goes, and some people don't know which way M goes.

J Perm I guess your point makes sense, but once the beginners to BLD get used to this they might need to find some faster setup moves, so they might use slice instead. Thanks for the heart too!

To those who are still confused with parity : If you have an even number of edge swaps AND corner swaps, you do nothing. If you have an odd number of edge swaps AND corner swaps, you do the parity algorithm after having swapped the edges. If you have an odd number of edge swaps AND an even number of corner swaps, it means you failed somehow. If you have an even number of edge swaps AND an odd number of corner swaps , it means you failed somehow. Btw to those who know CFOP, the permutation algorithm is an R perm, finishing with U' to align the blocks, the swapping edges algorithm is a TPerm (you can do JPerms as well to avoid hard setups), and the swapping corners algorithm is the YPerm, ommitting the first F and last F' moves) Thanks JPerm for the update :)

M is the top left of the R face, so if ur looking for P, you can go to the R face and "count" M N O P clockwise. For setup moves, I just remember the moves, and then reverse them. Ex. K would be F' R'. So when I'm doing it, I say to myself "F' R' " Then I reverse it using R F. Hopefully this is useful.

For corners, I use A as buffer and P to swap, that way setup moves for M N O and P combine with R, the first move of the algorithm. Also for the parity algorithm at 8:30 you say "R prime" while the screen shows and you perform R.

Kartavya Gohel forget about lookahead for now. Keep solving and practicing until you can recognize and solve every pair without thinking. Try executing at top speed. After you get this down, slow down and lookahead. Do both, because people usually just slow down and look aimlessly at their cube. Hope it helps 😀

I finaly did it, but instead of using my mind to remember the sequence i tryed something diferent. It was hard to remember all the letters, so i turned it into muscle memory. I identify the position and put my finger on top of that position, then i move it to the next position, then to the next and the next and so on. When im done my hand remember the movements and i dont even think about any sequence of letters, i just go in auto mode

Dude, thanks. I started learning blindfold on 2x2, I was struggling with it through some tutorial but you explained it better. The hardest part was cycle break and it was hard for me to understand. After I got it, I bought 3x3 and decided to learn it as well. I jumped into your tutorial, checked how it differs from 2x2, and decided to give it a try. I dont know how long I was creating mnemo, but took me 25 minutes to solve. At first try! The hardest part were the set ups and resets. It was my first time with such edges solving. Also I had problem with parity algorithm, as I actually didnt know it and just memorized the sequence of letters to perform it. But I got it. Thanks for tutorials bro.
