I respectfully doubt that, I have used over 5 different UV lights and very hard on them. Do you know how many watts the one you got was?

That bridge was crossed 30 years ago, and probably much earlier with the first streamer. Not to say the question is irrelevant. People have taken fly fishing so far out of the realm of fly fishing that regulators have got involved, like the all mono fly line ban in some states (where they have fly only sections).

I would call it a fly. Tie that on a spinning rod and try to cast it, and see how far it goes. It wont go very far at all, You need the weight of the line to carry the "fly".
