@@RandomGuyyyy Yeah Imu looks like a Umibozu like we saw in Thriller Bark. They are usually accompanied by stormy weather. If Imu is a Umibozu he is probably Dragon. Why do they use the Dragon Claw symbol anyway?

Great theory so far, just got a crazy idea while watching. So if Imu and Sugar are parallels, what if Imu has a much more physical parallel to Sugar’s toys? Maybe instead of turning people into toys Imu can turn people into fruits, fruits that contain their hopes and dreams; the desires or wills that they had. We know from Dr. Vegapunk that devil fruits came from the desires/dreams of people, and we know from Blackbeard that peoples dreams never end. That could explain why Devil fruits, former people, get reincarnated after their user dies, similar to the concept of inherited will. Furthermore, in the context of dressrosa as a microcosm of one piece, Kyros can be seen as a parallel to joyboy. Sugar’s power also took away any memories relating to those turned into toys. So just as Kyros was turned into a toy and only nameless remnants of the warrior he was remained, so to was Joyboy turned into the mythical human zoan fruit model: Nika. This explains why the only remnants of Joyboy that exist are written down, there are no stories about him that have been passed down, even in remote tribes like the tontatta. I could go on with this theory as it makes countless things make sense but anyone reading this probably gets the picture.

Yeah that's 100% the wildest theory i've heard in One Piece and if it's true that would be a crazy reveal, never would have thought that.

Eh. I think Imu is that times Luffy, but without one or two of his traits. A godlike devil fruit, childlike personality, probably eats a lot, but all of his friends are dead, all his dreams are either fulfilled or forgotten. He is the “freest person”, but with a heart consumed by darkness instead of light. He’s the inversion of Luffy.

I love how you included Bonnie in this personally I'm on the side the paw paw fruit can not only contain the user's memories but prior users as well (similar to the attack titans abilitiy) and the reason she's been gone so long is cuz she's seeing all past users memories and once she sees lilies memories she will be the key we have been missing in the story

That would be a very lame cope out for Oda. No point having the Poneglyphs like that. No point having ancient animals with 1000 years (Zunesha) and so on. Besides R.A doesn't need time Capsules, they need Vegapunk and Punk records, they need Sabo using his own memories on the records for all the world to see. As for Lily, we may or may not have a flashback. I honestly think its Vivi who is going to give us more info about her, be it by discovering something back on Alabasta or her joining the Straw Hats and activating Pluton. Also that idea with the Paw Paw fruit opens a massive plot hole, where it would be possible for DF users to see past users memories...What would be the point than of people training and getting awakening for example?

Also if Garp took in Rock's son that'd be hilarious. Because it'd explain why Roger was so sure that Garp would look after Ace: he's literally done it for a pirate before. And I just love the idea of Garp constantly being given orphans because he's a cool guy

crackpot theory here: pluton isn't a ship but instead is a klabautermann which is able to jump from ship to ship, and is trying to create the perfect ship.

Egghead is an arc where we get focus on Bonney, the same arc we learn from Vegapunk that DF powers are potential Evolutions, Bonney kinda access the possible evolutions of people and herself. I think if she awakens, she can grant people DF powers temporarily , probably just for people who dont already have a DF but it is plausible that she can "de-evolve" someone to before they had the fruit then evolve them to a new fruit. Idk if its very believable but it isnt impossible

I only disagree with the egg part: In my opinion bonney can´t be the one hatching from rogers egg, because in the real world the egg is way older than bonney. Oda said that all the supernova were created last minute as he felt the need for more action post timeskip. Only if Oda changed his mind about the egg after the timeskip.

I kind of agree but I also think that the egg was more of a design choice as Roger arrived to Laughtale too early so he laid the groundwork for the next generation to achieve something that he would never see. That idea is shown with the egg as to our knowledge Roger never saw it hatch but he and presumably his crew after he was gone protected it all the same.

I'm not saying this is true, but it could be that Oda always intended for Bonney to play a role, but came up with the Supernova as a group later on and decided to introduce her earlier in the story and make her a part of that group, just like Oda at first inteded for Boa Hancock to appear much later in the story but hen moved her introduction to the Summit War saga

Ya know I refuse to believe that the Supernovas were created on a whim during Sabaody. I think Oda is a very humble man to the point that he downplays his own efforts, and I also think he would lie if it helps hide some mysteries. Bonney and Kuma, and Law, are setup too well for them to be characters made up on the spot.

Even if it's true, I'm sure Oda thought long and hard about what they would become after, and how it could fit into the story he wants to tell and things he had already planned

Really liking the new editing. It never bothered me to just listen to your videos like a podcast but these edits admittedly add a new layer of enjoyment 😊

If Imu is a dragon, then maybe the scene where Imu transforms to attack Sabo is not actually his face... but the two dots are actually his nostrils! And the rest of the dragon head is off-screened, and drawn to look like a face to throw us off, since all of the gorosei you can clearly see their faces. Then the arrow that attacked Kobra could be his tail, he's massive enough that it wraps around the room. Just an intriguing thought!

My take on Luffy and Kid was rather that Kid is how Luffy would have ended up if he didn't choose to accept that he was still too weak to enter the New World. While Luffy got defeated at Marineford and decided to take a step back and gain strength, Kid never got the chance to do so. It was only during Wano when both were defeated by Kaido and both responded differently. Kid immediately escaped and planned another attack on Kaido. Luffy decided to spend the time training because he knew that if he attacked Kaido again the outcome would be the same. Kid and Law represent extremes. Kid is the bullheaded, stubborn guy that just goes for the throne without thinking and Law needs everything planned out before making a move. One could even argue whether that it the reason as to why Law lost to Blackbeard. Being caught off guard isn't something Law and his crew is used to. Although Luffy gravitates towards the bullheaded side, his experience at Marineford made him a bit smart in that regard. So you could say he's somewhere between Kid and Law.

True and it's why after wano arc. Kidd got too big for his boots that he decided to go after Shanks again. Instead of trying to plan ahead his next step. Instead now his ships destroyed and has no crew. As for poor Law, he's just unlucky cause Black beard a slimes snake bastard. That will just ambush you without even knowing.

I understand what you mean with Bonny but honestly it just feel like a random idea Oda had to give Bonny last minute purpose. In terms of worst generation it's really only Black beard , Luffy, and Zoro. We still don't know about Urouge yet

I really like this theory. Well done! But.. I can’t help but think Oda liked the alternate time line drawnings so he made her powers and her so he could squish those things into the story 😂 that would be very Oda to do such a thing. With that said I hope at least some of this plays out because it would be great stuff

I LOVE that theory! I've always thought that it's such a weird coincidence that Rouge wanted her child to be called Anne - just like the most famous female pirate there was - if it was a girl and then Bonney is also named after that Pirate. I've also always wanted the egg on Roger's ship to have a significance and be more than a weird design choice and considering the importance of dragons and the heavy lore in One Piece surrounding them I always thought a dragon was the most likely being hatching from that egg.

"...could set her along a trajectory that would make her as cruel and callous as Imu..." ...the daughter of Tyrant Kuma could become a Tyrant. I had not considered that Oda drawing the futures of different characters was him practicing for Bonny's fruit. That makes a lot of sense. It's also possible that he developed Bonney's power set while doing those sketches. Bonney and the egg... that would be a really fun twist.

JB wonderful video. I'm buying stock in tinfoil. I love to see a video that charts the roles connecting the void century characters to their current counterparts. This may be a project for later after more story unfolds, or an evolving series.

Ahh I remember the Kaido dragon discussions years ago, glad to see the dream still lives on!

I think that the conection you made of sugar and imu is a strong one. Maybe imu has a corrupt corrupt fruit or something like that. I also think that Bonny's fruit is very powerful bc: 1) we know it can turn people including herself into versions of themselves of different ages. 2) we know she is able to pick different versions of what someone can become or could have been. She can thus bring the best version of someone for a particular situation out of a set of potentials.

If Imu had the Ope Ope no Mi immortality, which could explain how they won the war back then, then Bonnie's power could be to just mess up the time of his body, perhaps reversing it to before the immortality operation. I think this would close many holes in the story.

Now that IS some tinfoil. I can see this happening actually but the way oda writes things i dont think it will be said outright by anyone. Oda loves keeping things a vague mystery more than anything. He occasionally drops some lore bombs but its the gradual build up and and actually having to go back and read it again to pick up on a lot of things. Back in the day you didnt have all these communities to sit around and theorize with thousands of people. You just had like one other kid at school who read the same thing to talk about it with. Sorry Im rambling. Thanks for the new ideas!

I guess my question would be, because I didn’t see it mentioned but would IMU know who Bonnie is? They had her captive which you mentioned but if she’s that important I feel she would be locked up forever lol I can def see it being the last missing race and not just a devil fruit power. I hope one day, you and Vin can work together on an “organic theory”, or not even theory but some sort of project. And by organic, I mean ~ rather than forcing an idea, you both seem to have a great appreciation for writing as an art form, and the series as a whole. Examples of none theories: Japan’s conviction rate & Enies Lobby. ( A hospital staff employee was convicted of murder. Because a detective told her he would have her kids if she confessed. She had something akin to autism. Not severe. Everyone knew she didn’t do it. Took her 8 years to be released. A recently retired judge admitted to sentencing many innocent people to death. He knew they were innocent. But he was not allowed to disagree with his saviors. Japans political structure, and how up until recently you needed to be connected by blood to get anywhere. ( basically if you’re an American, think illumanti / masons, Bush family. But it’s MUCH worse in Japan, and very real) with celestial dragons. Bartolomeo cutting off the characters tongue for bad mouthing Luffy, being a direct representation of the rabid manga fan base, over their favorite series/character. Fishman Island & The Untouchables in Japan. ( The whole, Fishman having “bad blood” & “you can’t mix their blood” is a direct reference to this ongoing problem..) Luffy ideology of “Are you actually alive, if you’re doing what you hate?”, “ Dying is 100% worth it, if it means u can do what I love/want.” being a very real, heartfelt message to an entire nation dying due to loneliness, overwork, and depression. ( This main theme is missed as western culture values individualism so so much. But all humans experience the pressure/guilt of “be normal.” “Do what you should.” “You should like this, not that.” These are just off the cuff. And knowing both of your guys’ content, I’m sure you could come up with some stuff actually interesting, and unique stuff, that’d be hella interesting/fun.

Sugar has always been....unsettling. I KNOW this doesn't mean much but remember second recent color spread with all the girls in it? A lot of people thought sugar was a weird addition , I mean she's such a minor villain so why?? Tama and Ulti sort of makes sense but sugar was just so out of the blue. Maybe , and I know this is stretching it , but maybe sugar is important and that was Oda trying to clue us in.

Im just gonna say that i will always entertain any idea that presents my favorite zelda thing. Link's Awakening... has a lot of narrative tones that go with this. And the idea that the reality bending power lies inside the egg. And that its all a Dream he needs to wake up from. In order to carry on with his adventure at sea.

So here is my Imu theory. So you know how Vegapunk said that devil fruits are created by one's desire, I will build my theory off of that (by the way, I will refer to Imu as "he" because it is highly possible that Imu was one of the 20 founders of the World Government, and since all 20 of them were king, that must mean that Imu is male). So my theory is that when a person with an incredible sense of justice and willpower dies, their dreams, deepest desires, and wishes leave their bodies and go to the sea. Eventually, these lost desires become tangible objects known as devil fruits. I believe that Imu has some sort of devil fruit relating to the sea. If that's the case, he can control the seas and the rate at which they form devil fruits, or in simpler terms he can create devil fruits from the sea. Every month, Imu secretly comes out from hiding and performs a ritual where he cuts a small area of his blood in front of the ocean, resulting in his blood falling into the ocean. Imu's blood contains his deepest desires and his wishes, and very rarely, devil fruits that are still forming absorb his blood, resulting in PURE FRUITS. These pure fruits are very, VERY powerful and are formed from Imu's dreams. One example of a pure fruit is Big Mom's Soul Fruit. The Soul Fruit reflects Imu's desire to be have friends and be loved (you know, the homies.) The best example of a pure fruit is Luffy's Nika Fruit. This fruit reflects Imu's desire to bring peace and unite the world, but his methods of doing so cause chaos. This also relates to the Void Century where after the death of Joyboy, the world fell into chaos and the rulers of the Ancient Kingdom became corrupted and evil. Imu gathered his five closest friends/allies (the Gorosei) and overthrew the Ancient Kingdom. Imu then became the ruler of the world and tried to bring peace, so he forced everyone to follow his laws, which were fair but strict. Anyone who didn't follow his laws were executed. His method of trying to bring peace resulted in chaos (kind of like Kaguya from Naruto).

There is a cultural bound syndrome amongst Ainu and Sakhalin woman of Japan called Imu. Characterized by extreme startle response that linked to automatic movements, imitative behaviour, infantile reactions and obedience to command. The Ainu has similarities to Indigenous North America tribes such as The Haida. The Emishi; Ainu and Ezo are indigenous People of Japan. The Ainu are also found in Serbian and Russia. This Lake is called Manitou Lake; Spirit Lake and also called Lake of Devils. The Great Serpent's head was red as blood; his fierce eyes glowed like, fire. His body was armoured with hard and glistening scales of every colour and shade. Nanabozho decided that he'd get revenge for his cousin's death. Nanabozho commanded the cloud to disappear and for the Sun to beat down; until the waters boiled and The Great Serpent, the horned serpents and the underwater panther rose from the depths. The Great Serpent coiled around a Great Tree. As Nanabozho disguised himself as a withered tree stub; he got cut but he dared not cry out. There he saw that the horned serpents and underwater panthers had torn his cousin into a thousand piece and his lungs covered the lake with whiteness. Nanabozho took his arrow and shot the Great Serpent in the heart. It reached its mark and the mountains shook with the howls of the frightful beast. The horned serpents followed in their howls. The Great Serpent knew that he'd die from his wound and so he plunged into the water; the heat of his breath caused The Great Flood. Nanabozho run ahead of the raging waters and told everyone to run to the mountain tops. Nanabozho got many woman; children; men and animals to the one tall mountain and their he crafted a raft and they set sail. For many days, and at long last the waters subsided. The Great Serpent was died and the horned serpents and water panthers dared not return from the bottomless lake for fear of Nanabozho. (Nanabozho's cousin is known by some as his beloved twin brother; while other say he was his younger brother, and yet others say that he was his adopted brother, and his name was Chibiabos; which means "Ghost Rabbit." Nanabozho had to accept that his beloved brother couldn't be revived; which hurt him greatly; much like Luffy and Ace. Other say that "Ghost Rabbit" was a wolf. Also "Ghost Rabbit" became the ruler of the underworld. He was a good and kind Lord that took good care of the Land of The Dead.) Which sounds like the twins of changeling woman; twin sons; "One born of Water." and " Monster Slayer (Navaho); which sounds like the water dog god of the underworld and the feathered serpent that killed The Sea Serpent; a giant water demon that had nibbling fish on the water lily flowers and pads and they made her body parts into the New World; the 2nd or 3rd world, as she flooded the world, Aztec. The Mayan has the White Lily flower serpent that is of smoke and clouds; who has a connection to Sak Nik; The White Flower of The tree of Life. Who is also known as The Hidden Sun; The Hero Twin that became The Moon. God of Music; The soul and The wind. Half Brother of B'atz; Also known as Hat; or Headdress Monkey; One Howler Monkey. He too had a twin brother. B'atz; Monkey God; who's city was called "The White City of The Monkey God." God of Music and Art that moves one's soul. This city was known as "El Dorado." Their father was The Mazie God First/ One Blow-gunner. Who was a great ball player that used a hard rubber ball. His head hanged in a Tree of The Underworld like a fruit. His Head was The Rubber ball as his skin never lost it elasticity; its youthfulness. Nanabozho's stories can create magic out of nothing. To build a whole new world with only hard work, creativity and our imagination. Nanabozho is a cultural hero and our greatest teacher of how to be human. Nanabozho was part man and part powerful spirit being; the personification of the life forces. In his role as original man; The creator tasked him to walk through the world that Skywoman had danced into life. "The Sky People" With each step a greeting to mother Earth. Nanabozho was placed in a fully peopled world. There his journey first took him towards The Rising Sun; to a place where the day begins. The Knowledge he needed was present in the land. His role was to not control or change the World, as a human, but to learn from the world. How to be Human. East is the Direction of Knowledge. Nanabozho had to learn peoples names as this is how you build bonds of friendship. He Spoke with them and learnt their gifts they carried in order to learn their true names. So he didn't feel lonely and he felt at home with the people. In The West Nanabozho founded many things that frighten him. The Earth shook beneath his feet. Great fire consume the land. Sage was there to help him wash the fear way. The Firekeepers came to Nanabozho and said. "This is the same fire that warms your lodge. I think you're onto something here. In every arc there is a character that isnt a strawhat that is a main character. Since weve been on egghead Bonnie has been the main subject of this arc. The missing part that would tell a lot about Bonnie and what proves that she has more to her than we've seen is when Akainu found her tied up after Blackbeard. Where did she go after that? Why wasn't she sent to Impel Down and why was Akainu afraid of her power? And then when she was at the Reverie, why did the guards recognize her and allow her in so easily when she aged herself? If the Sorbet Kingdom was against the WG, why would she have been allowed in so easily? Oda also tends to parallel his movies to the manga as a way to almost practice a certain type of story. Not only did Oda use inspiration from Uta for designs on Egghead, I believe the character of Uta and her connection to Shanks is a parallel to Bonnie and Kuma's relationship. Maybe Kuma had to make a hard choice because of Bonnie's abilities and thats why Vegapunk didn't want Bonnie to see what was in the room. I dont know what the answers are, I just wanted to add on to your thoughts.

The oldest dragons usually live a bit past 1 thousand years so Imu being a dragon would be a pretty nice fit.

I think u are onto something with bonney being a dragon since as soon as u mentioned that i couldn't help but think of a dragon fruit, the Pitaya in how it reminds me of bonnie. Also bonnies age has been revealed in sbs vol 68 as being 22 and 24(post timeskip) but oda said her age is a estimation due to the nature of her fruit at that time but since bonnie mentioned that her power doesnt last forever on living things in chapter 1072 we can assume she really is 24 unless her body is the exception to the rule
