UTTER JOY! "Wheel of Time" by BLIND GUARDIAN [REACTION]

Ойын-сауық

Sometimes I lose track of what I have listened to, so I was pleasantly surprised to hear this track once more, many years later. It's all the things that Blind Guardian do best. Delivering utter joy through melody and excess. The "Wheel of Time" is truly a masterpiece in the genre and a shining example of how to use orchestral elements in speed metal, power metal, prog metal, whatever you want to call it!

People actually think that Blind Guardian had a lapse in quality?! To me they've never lost their touch.

You’re absolutely right, people in general don’t like bands that are not staying with the exact same sound and formula. Blind Guardian always evolves and to me all of their albums are masterpieces or close to it. They kept the essence of their sound, experiment new territories and each record stands on its own, incredible band.

Never ceases to amaze me that fantasy fans don't even know the third best selling fantasy series of all time (and probably the best selling that never entered the mainstream :-)).

If you haven't read the wheel of time book series, this song won't make much sense. But as an avid reader of the series, they definitely did their homework on the lyrics and the feel for the book series. I was in love on the 1st listen because it's so grand.

One of the main themes of the lyrics in this song is a man's descent into madness, losing himself depite pleading for his salvation. It creates a very powerful emotional response in me.

Oh, I love this song! I got into metal very recently, discovered Hansi through an Avantasia track he was on and fell in love with his voice. This was the song that made me go "yes, I love his main band as well" and now blind guardian is my absolute favorite! So it's very exciting for me to see a reaction to it! Funnily enough, you aren't the first reactor I've seen to comment about the guitar solos haha. One reactor commented on not liking guitar solos because they're often just kind of... thrown in there willy-nilly, but liking them in blind guardian because they fit the song so we'll thematically. And on the topic of writing about fantasy, this song is about Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, mostly from the point of view of the main character. The series itself has a lot of eastern themes in the magic and philosophy of the world, so it even makes sense on that level too. I'm glad you enjoyed the song!

This song is just fire. Good to see someone reacting to something other than the bard song and Valhalla being played live from a couple of years ago. This song getting me hyped for the amazon show coming out in November too.

They are certainly my favourite band, and this is one of their best. I enjoyed the sincere reaction, and I'm glad you've heard it before too. They are not really containable with just one listen. Funny though that you say this is music for people who don't take themselves too seriously - my wife's main complaint about them is that they "care" too much and that they are basically too serious for her liking. I think it's for people who are not too preoccupied with their "coolness" and can accept a band that actually take their music very seriously. Also I think the details are done in good taste, and always in good\interesting relations with the general theme (or themes) of the song.

This is such a masterful fusion of metal and orchestra. It's a shame the follow-up album doesn't do it even half as well, in my opinion. Anyway, fantastic reaction, loved it.

The first time I seen them live, they were in support of this album and when I first heard them play this song I was like "There is no way in hell they can play this shit live and pull it off", boy was I wrong. They made it sound just as epic as the album version, it was great.

They haven't really released much new stuff, except one album, which was mentioned in the comments already (Beyond the Red Mirror). From that one, there is one song that has a bit more elements of "older" guardian songs, even though, truth be told, noneof the newer era songs are really much like anything from the "old times" anymore. But if any of those songs could be considered to have elements of "older songwriting" vibes in it, it would be "The Holy Grail". You can find it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g6tntsGjeK6wmbw.html
