He didn't have enough time to develop new players for the Olympics since COVID saw 8 months of no games or camps for the USWNT. If the 0-0 tie against the Czech Republic is any indication that the team still has to work on its synergy.

I’m not sure expanding the World Cup teams to 32 was a good idea. Teams like New Zeland are already in since they are dual hosts. The IS beat Thailand by 13 when it was only 24 teams.

The thing is that Thailand game broke a World Cup record and was an anomaly. There are also some highly qualified teams who now have a chance in the tournament. This also increases exposure of the women's game in other countries.

@@jariemonah the World Cup is supposed to be competitive. Adding more teams doesn’t necessarily do that. Many quality men’s teams don’t make it in. But qualifying World Cup isn’t a participation prize. You want the best of the best in the World Cup. This isn’t accomplishing that.

This is a game that had no real significance like the Olympics or World Cup, so Vlatko wanted to observe his younger players in action. Morgan, Press & Rapinoe were all on standby for call up, if needed.

And playing in Europe doesn't disqualify you from the team since Macario has started the last two games and she's been playing in Lyon this whole time. Horan is also in camp nursing an injury while supporting the team.

I agree Huerta should be starting moving forward, but I’m not so sure if O’Hara should retire yet. She would make a great backup at Right back in case Huerta gets injured, especially due to her experience
