Most other results of games between US Women's and NZ Women's football (soccer) teams in the past have been a lot closer. However, don't forget, you are comparing a country with a population of about 320 million against a country with only about 4.6 million people. There are a great many more talented female soccer players in the USA than in New Zealand so statistically the USA Women's team should be far superior. The June 2018 FIFA Rankings for Women's teams have USA at No. 1 and New Zealand ranked 20th.

Last I checked, winning ugly is still winning. I’m sure the players were not proud of the teams performance, but they found a way to get the win. They struggled and still found a way to persevere.

Yeah, but every team is a lower tier than USA, so where do you draw the line? Should we only play against Germany, Sweden, France, England, Canada, Netherlands, Japan and Brazil? What about a team like Spain? They are considered "lower tier" but they gave us the closest game of the World Cup. I agree that New Zealand isn't really in our league though.
