ustad tari khan is more electrifying and much more of a versatile tabla king then zakir or anyone else. he has shown the world what kind of magic is in his hands and they are placed on the tabla like a mercedes on a smooth highway. zakir hussains hands are always off the tabla and doesnt have the smooth reela like tari syeb. the king of tabla once and for alll ustad tari khan syeb.

Tari nd Zakir r both very very very special in their own ways. Wat do u think zakir doesnt know tabla or tari doesnt know tabla?? Both of them know damn well wat they r doing on the tabla nd everyone else that knos tabla nd play tabla! Plz listen nd focus more nd concentrate more on the music played not the musician or person or individual! ;)

@sureshrajr thanks for your comments sir, but although I'm technically minded can't quite make out what you mean engineer being tabla boss?. . Are you saying the resonance is beyond the frequency range of the mics??

@feeldabeat100 I play the tabla but I am also a sound engineer, setting big gigs for professionals. also I'm electronics engineer. You can use one mic but two mics produce solid sound with clear deep bass without overwhelming the treble harmonics. With one mic certain tones are compromised when setting the volume high as the case is here. You can get pro drum mics that are attached to drum face but are expensive.

Pity the sound is somewhat distorted, fabulous tabla player though.

munnatabla. You can hear the sound on the bass is distorted. This is because the soundman has made the mistake of using 1 mic instead of 2. You need 2 mics one for bass and one for treble and seperate inputs on mixer. sound will be much better and you don't need to set them too high covering the singer as you do with one.

I don't think the speaker system was bad. I think it was just the recording. Either way, it would have been nice to hear it properly.

@saal2k7 if 2 mics are used the the engineer will become tabla player boss . keeping one good mic and balancing the left and right will produce good tabla sound with the exact dynamics the tabla player performs

this solo is so good but the bayan is very badly balanced. Maybe a bit of editing can fix it?
