Best known for his unmatched prowess in geet and ghazals, he is also among the elite when it comes to performing a classical solo tabla performance. I know of no other tabla player who can execute a tihai like Ustad Tari Khan especially when accompanying a singer. His style is energetic, unique, fulfilling, & most important... crisp and technically exact. Note how simply crisp the dhira-dhira kaida is in the end. In a nutshell, what Tari Khan does, no one does better. What is especially rare and unique in this video is that Ustad Mehdi Hassan is part of the audience and also enjoying Tari Khan's solo. All these artists are great, there is no need for comparison. I enjoy Ustad Tari's playing much more than Ustad Zakir Hussain's as a personal preference.

In my Opinion He 's The best tabla player have ever seen. I think, that He is the: Massala in the Groove... He is master in controling the ONE.... Wich means that he does not follow the one.... He knows exactly where he as at. So he RULES the one... In terms of 1x2x3x4... (matra). No Discussion..... Start counting from the start of this video and you will find out what I mean... He is the ONE!

The beginning cycle can be interpreted as Dadra, but really this solo is Keherwa. The "Dadra" is in fact Dadra taal (6 beats), but in this context, it is considered Keherwa (in Adi laya: i.e 3 into 4 beats).

Well Tari Khan has developed his Boles to a very high standerd. Zakir ans a style and musicality and fluidity all of his own. Ther is no real contest. Tari Khan has a style like a razor and Zakir Hussain and a style like a river. They are bith just ausom players.
