Khansahib Shaukat Hussien Sahib in my humble opinion is the worlds best Tabla player. His humility and low profile nature and with no marketing skills makes him less known in India but5 he is number one in the world. Pakistani's are proud to have him .

Unbelieveable. One of the greats of the tabla is talking and many are going on about petty geographical squables. This guy ranks among greats.

Ustad ji just said he was born in Jullandur, not that it matters but it should wake you up to the fact that Pakistan and India doesn't mean anything when it comes to this music.

Ustadji is talking about his 'riyaz' (daily practise). He is humbly saying that he has not done that much practise, and is not going to exaggerate that he did 8, or 10 hours riyaz. He says that his Riyaz was only 2 - 2,1/2 hours. The host then asks him what he called the parts of the Tabla as they were contorversial.

The Interviewer is an extremely intelligent person - this video looks very old but he is asking very good questions. At 9:24 he is extremely humble, think about how much talent he has - even Ustad Allarakha did 8-10 hours riyaz (with a result). Could the person upload the entire video please?

I am 100% about seeking knowledge on the Masters and their history as well. I was only trying to make the point that he says in this video that he was born in Jullandar which happends to be on the east-punjab or the indian punjab. I was just clairfying A fact of his history.

OK to all the Pakistan and India Haters...When Miyan Shaukat Khan Sahib was born, there was no India or Pakistan. We were all British Subjects...When partition happened, there was a mass migration between both sides. (the largest mass migration in history).

You said "He is actually from Pakistan Punjab. He is Pakistani!" Well he definitely was pakistani because he lived there after partition. But you also say he was from pakistan, punjab. Now if we look at your point geographically it doesnt make sense.
