this voice is definitely of ustad bade ghulam ali khan saheb....i now it well and had heard it countless times in conversations; he was a very close friend of my father, and i used to listen to his riyaaz many evenings when he was in calcutta. while he might have respected some film music, his comments are really about the nuances and elements that were resounding more and more in filmy songs as a result of modernism. can we even imagine his reaction to today's film music? god have mercy on us! :-)

I request that the entire interview be uploaded which will give a complete view of the subject debated upon. The interviewer's question is even more pertinent to this age where Classical Mousiqi is lesser regarded in these modern times. I remember Vilayat Khan sahab answering this question too. He said that "distractions are always there" but classical music will never cease to exist.

Always remember that desi interviewers get the job because of who they know and not what they know.

Very bad manners very ignorant is to calling some topmost maestros of that time and focusing only on putting down your guests!!

I don't think this is Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan had several friendships in the film world. he had great respect for Music Directors like Naushad, Anil Biswas and Madan Mohan. I don't think he would condemn his friends as this gent - Ghulam Ali Khan has done.

The interviewer's first question lasts OVER SIX MINUTES! Ridiculous! And the most confused question ever! The interviewer is too much in love with his own voice and knows little about music...terrible! The interview with two terrific artistes is totally wasted! Sad!

@@asharmirza Mr Mirza - do you know the person/s being interviewed? Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan was a star on the firmament of Hindustani classical music, perhaps the greatest vocalist of our times. Shame on YOU for neglecting a star and concentrating on the interviewer! It is the interviewee who is more valuable. You may wish to revisit your priorities.

Totally agreed with @Smarth Bali. Most of the radio hosts, presenters, and producers in those days were obnoxious, arrogant, and part of that class that were obsessed with Urdu pronunciation and pretentious lingo. People like Z.A. Bukhari, while did produce some good stuff, eventually did more harm than good by mistreating musicians and treating them as inferior illiterate _miraasi's_ . Whosoever the interviewer is and whatever was the norm then, it's plain wrong and nonsensical to consume so much time doing a monologue. There should be a quick intro and each question should be short and crisp, driven by the answers of the guest. It is the guest who the people are interested in, they are the talented gifted & accomplished person, and should get the bulk of the time.

Research? Bade Ghulam Ali Khan saheb was born in Kasur, near Lahore. He was so attached to the place that post-partition he left India to settle in Pakistan. And then promptly returned back to India because arrogant bureaucrats treated him like shit! Now that we have understood this, let us also understand that in a media interview, the position of primacy (and importance) is that of the interviewee and NOt the interviewer. It is the demand of the platform and an established etiquette. Instead of shaming me, you need to look at your own attitude to artistes and the arts. This is what has led to a serious crisis of the classical arts talent in Pakistan. I shall not dwell on this any longer as you do not seem to be a reasonable person.
