USS Yorktown 1/350 Trumpeter: Assembly, Painting
Hello, thanks for visiting the channel!
In this video, i am building and painting the USS Yorktown from Trumpeter in 1/350 scale. It is a truly massive model when finished, so the process of building is quite hard to get on camera - luckily, the building system is 95% the same as with the USS Essex in 1/700 that i have built some weeks ago, so if you are interested in the build, you can check that video and double the size.
I usually only build battleships and cruisers in 1/350 scale, so the massive hull with the hangar was new to me. But i enjoyed it and think about getting some more in that scale.
The kit itself is good, especially if you get it quite cheap, i got mine for 60 bucks and therefor, i consider it extremely valuable. the detail and the decals are not that up-to-date anymore (the kit is around 20 years old), but the planes are excellent and the hull makes a great model with a nice camouflage.

Greetings, Great effort and sucess in completing a huge kit with some fitment problems and old decals. About the decals, Microsol and others make clear Liquid Decal Film with which you can make your own decals. But more importantly, you can coat old decals with a couple of coats to restore old decals and keep them from cracking and breaking. I always put on a few coats if I suspect the decals are brittle, aged or too thin, Also and I hate to mention it, but the F6F Hellcat fighters on the deck in the middle have their wings folded incorrectly. They utilitized Grumman's "Sto-Wing" wing folding system. The wings are designed to fold horizontally back along the side of the fuselage. Just wanted to tell you in case you build another American Carrier. The Avenger also. Best regards!
Awesome job!! Especially on the MS33 camo
I agree on not focusing on realism. I plan on getting the 1/700 scale version and making a version of the ship that had been in service long enough to be retrofitted to carry jets.
MAGNIFICENT! Greetings from Brazil!
Dude I built the same one I want to die try to put those small ass guns on it 😭😭 you did a amazing job
I love watching this video considering im building it right now im getting major anxiety on the paint job though.
Great build
Again a very fine modelwork by yours. State of the art. High - End.
Awesome video & build. you are correct about some of the earlier Trumpeter kits from early 2000s - fit problems and other problems and errors in instructions, kind of like Dragon kits from 1980s-1990s but not as terrible. Can remember when Trumpeter kits started to arrive at hobby shops, was like they did not know what to do with them or how to price them. Bought quite a few
Very nice job on her ! Well done.
Looking good my man!
I think you mean the USS Yorktown Museum Ship because the USS Essex was scrapped
Mega Good
HI awesome model what aircraft are on board particularly those that have the extra bubble machine gunner aft of the main cock pit as those were not in my kit. Where di you get them ? Tiim
Hey where did you buy this at?
